Chill out on the self custody maximalism. There are some advantages to using custodial solutions for small amounts. You just have to weigh the trade offs of convenience vs risks and act accordingly.

If they are resisting Bitcoin adoption they can only slow it in their own jurisdiction. China banned Bitcoin mining and it all just moved out. While adoption in China slowed, I'd argue the ban increased the adoption rate elsewhere, so I say the overall effect was around 0.
