The idea of whitelisting an npub for account migration would be brilliant. However I can imagine that the implementation may require some deep pondering by the devs.

Verifying my Nostr backup account, in case my main private key gets compromised.

Good idea.

I've been thinking about this also. For now, before we have a technical solution, we could post a note and keep it in our public bookmarks.

Below is the Npub of my account backup #1. I have set my main account to follow my backup account. I will keep the robot avatar for my backup until I use it.

Possible hashtags to find the note:

Wage slavery is NOT freedom.

An hourly wage is a contract of indentured servitude.

In exchange for your time, you get paid.

Yes, it is an agreement by both parties.

But, you believe this is the only way.

You measure your time in dollars.

I measure mine in #Bitcoin

Every year you grind HARDER and HARDER.

All in an attempt to move up, get paid more and earn.

They tell you to work hard and you'll be rewarded.

But there's something you're missing.

You get a $1 raise every year. Maybe $2.

But REAL inflation is 10%.

You're going NOWHERE at this rate.

The company you work for has its profit margins squeezed tighter and tighter by poor monetary policy by the FED.

Your raises come less and less frequently.

The price of everything important is rising.

Food, shelter, vehicles, energy.

The only reason you stay is because you:

1. Have to feed your family

2. Have to pay your rent/mortgage/bills

3. Need to have health insurance

4. Don't know a better way to live

5. Don't have another skill set to survive.

Your health is declining as you work a sedentary job for a big corporate CEO.

He's cashing in millions of dollars a year while you slave away like an animal.

You're motivated, hardworking and determined, but you cut corners in your personal life to focus on work.

You tell yourself you 'don't have time to cook and you're too tired to go to the gym'.

You eat sugar for breakfast, take out for lunch and fast food for dinner on the way home.

You treat your body like a waste product.

40 years go by and you're morbidly obese, need knee and hip replacements, have low testosterone, haven't gone to the gym and you're closing in on 'retirement'.

You get sciatica from sitting all day and have had low back pain for years.

Do you have enough money to live 'comfortably' until you die?

You certainly can't work for another 20 years after the way you treated your body for the last 40. You can barely move without pain at this point.

Congratulations you've finally retired at 65!

You spent the last 50+ years chasing dollar signs in an attempt to improve your happiness while destroying your body in the process.

You can finally start siphoning money from your 401K, Roth IRA and social security.

You'll spend the next few years in health care facilities, physical therapy and the like.

You've been planning on traveling your whole life when you retire, but your body 'isn't what it used to be'.

Instead you retire to a modest home in a small town. One with low taxes and a reasonable HOA that takes care of everything for you.

You spend most of your time watching TV and going to doctor's offices.

You live the remainder of your days worried about rising costs:

1. Health care

2. HOA

3. Food and energy

4. Car insurance

I have seen all of this first hand.

I work as a health care professional.

It has led me to change my entire life.

This all stemmed from a deep desire to understand money which led me on a journey to #Bitcoin

A safe haven asset which secures your energy forever and protects and grows your efforts.

1. You cannot be debased

2. You cannot be devalued

3. You cannot be cheated

It's a system of truth, knowledge and hope.

You don't have to be a wage slave forever. You can break the cycle.

Its up to YOU to change your life or it will be too late.

Goodluck friends. 🧡

Saifedean Ammous [2:05:00]: I think you’re more likely to be taking the leap in the unknown when you have a little bit of gold in the mattress than when you don’t — I think this is the thing. Like, if you look at the late 19th century — and I discussed this in The Bitcoin Standard — that was arguably the most innovative period in human history. There’s qualitative evidence: look at the world around you today — pretty much everything that we use was invented in that period — the car, the airplane, the telegraph, the telephone, the camera. Pretty much modern life, the late 19th century, the period between 1870–1914, because the whole world was practically on a gold standard, the whole world was using the same money, and the whole world could save in the same currency. That meant that two bicycle shop owning brothers in North Carolina could go and try and fly, even as all the scientific experts in 1903 were confirming that the possibility of flight has been debunked as unscientific. Thomas Edison said, Not in a million years we’re going to be flying. Lord Kelvin also said it’s never going to happen. The New York Times said it’s never going to happen the same month in which the Wright brothers did it, and they continued to deny that it was going to happen, even two years after they did it. But why could they do that? Because they had savings in gold. They had the security with something that you know is going to be there, and then you can take a risk with the stuff that is extra. I have, say, three years expenditures in gold under my mattress, and I know that I could take a risk with everything else because whatever bad things happen with all of my dreams like even flying — think about how insane that is — I still can go back to the three years of gold that I have saved.

Yes, this is how many of us feels about savings in Bitcoin. Similarly the psychology functioned the same throughout history in relation to gold and silver.

Hard money savings brings certainty where there is uncertainty.

A few thoughts on free will.

Free will involves self sovereignty, from the simplest of organisms to the more advanced species.

When we ask if free will exists, we are asking if sovereignty and free agency is possible.

Free will can be viewed as a spectrum, from low degrees of sovereignty to higher capacity for autonomy.

If we are intoxicated, our freedom of deliberation is clearly impacted. If we had a brain implant that forced us to carry out someone else's command, we would basically have zero free will, hence no sovereignty.

Considering this spectrum then, from lower to higher degrees of sovereignty, it makes sense to define the higher echelons of self sovereignty as free will, as contrasted by its opposite; complete subjugation to the will of another.

If I would sum up the arguments against free will, in the most favorable way I could steel-man it, what I hear is this: you are the sum of your parts. Hence you must act within the confines of your personality.

This does not contradict the definition of free will as self-sovereignty. We are free to build and change our inner environment to our heart's content. We are free to build positive or negative responses to our experiences. We are free to explore any subject and press beyond our previous boundaries. This doesn't mean that we are without flaws and limitations, just that we have the potential to be sovereign.

We know that colors exist because we can observe a whole spectrum of colors that can be differentiated. Saying that colors doesn't exist gives us no practival advantage when we are dealing with colors, quite the contrary.

Free will is a spectrum that defines the extent of our self sovereignty and free agency. It makes little sense to claim that sovereignty and individual autonomy doesn't exist, unless we want sovereignty to not exist.

It would be a disastrous mistake to claim that an obedient cog-in-the-wheel, who is requiered to follow its commands without the chance of refusing, is equivalent to a free-willed individual with the capacity to break free from its bonds and challenge every command.

Free will exists because we can observe a spectrum of free agency and the more of it we have, the more sovereign we are.

Free agency exists.

The opposite is slavery.

Yes, decisions must be made with a cool temper. However, if we go back to classical battles, the time when the light and mobile units are charging the enemy and causing them to flee is not a fully rational operation but a flow that overcomes mental barriers of what is possible. The opposing army flee because they meet with the overwhelming force of an avalanche coming their way, a force of nature.

You are the entity sorting your thoughts, arranging, restructuring, testing, evaluating, considering and meditating.

It's the same battle.

Truth can only emerge in a free marketplace of ideas.

Yes, apart from meditation, this is also a fair description of what programming teaches; to put aside our assumptions and look at what works vs what doesn't work based on experimentation. To not invest all our emotions into something prematurely before we have tested it. Evaluating a theory based on its practical results rather than its appearance.

Also in modeling, the mind is trained to observe, rotate, interact and become one with the process of modeling that particular thing you are modeling, to align with its nature from a perspective of curiosity.

Curiosity is the best path before assumptions.

Welcome. I used to participate on Reddit a long time ago. What I didn't like was the downvote function that got increasingly abused by political activists.

I got kicked out from a subreddit I had been on for years for simply replying on a controversial thread and arguing for decentralization as a path forward.

At that point, there was just so many political activists that had overrun the place that it didn't seem a meaningful use of my time.

Here on Nostr we don't have downvotes and nobody can cancel you. People can mute you (block) although this doesn't prevent you from participating, you are just not visible to them. (Unless they click 'show message' on your note)

We are a happy bunch of liberty-addicts.
