Bitcoin - Art - Liberty

A few brief thoughts on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings from a Bitcoin perspective.

Tricking someone is an undermining of their informed consent. It is an attempt to force someone to do or believe something without truthful arguments.

There is a relationship between voluntarism and 'good', whereas forced actions would historically fall under the ethos of 'black magic', in the sense of non-voluntary and forced.

The ethos of black magic is harmful because it is based on causing (forcing) others to do what the influencer want, similar to lying and deceiving.

Moneyprinting is a black magic ethos, based on deception and the use of force, against the informed consent of the public.

Now to the Tolkien reference. Bitcoin is white magic; it is designed in the ethos of truth-alignment, clarity and property rights for all - individual sovereignty. Bitcoin is Gandalf the White, not Gandalf the Gray. Gandalf the white is the purified form of the magician (programmer) engaging in protecting liberty. In modern terms, Gandalf is a Cypherpunk.

Black magic is the use of force upon society and the corruption of individual sovereignty. Defeating the ancient Balrog is the internal process by which Gandalf abandoned his gray (neutral) state, toward choosing the side of good and liberty, hence becoming Gandalf the White.

Snowy December in Poland.

The Polish language has many poetic elements and reminds me of games like Skyrim, Morrowind and Daggerfall.

In these games, Autumn was called Leaf-Fall. In Polish, the month November is named Listopad (leaf-fall). 'Pada' in Polish means 'fall'.

Example:

Pada śnieg (snow-fall)

The month of December is called Grudzień. In old Polish, Gruda means 'frozen land'. Grudzień (December) therefore means something along the lines of 'day of frozen land'.

The month of leaf-fall has ended.

Happy Grudzień, day of frozen land.

Same here in Poland, lots of snow.

It's hard for me to sleep more than 8-9 hours, so I wouldn't be able to fill the conditions.

If I told you that your bitcoin are an immense treasure, and that the value is the ethical stance of opposing tyranny, remember your worth.

Absolutely.

Search is paramount.

Some Nostr clients, such as online Nostrgram, have difficulties displaying the last notes posted from an npub. This naturally depends on which relays have been utilized, but the user experience results in a situation where there is no properly working timeline. When a user can't see new notes from an npub they follow or visit, interaction and engagement will be impacted.

Zaps, quote-tweets, replies + likes, all function as feedback data streams, giving users some information about the extent of their reach. This is one of the reasons why 'likes' have a purpose for small accounts with limited reach. Users have an interest in measuring their reach in some way, not the least to verify that their relay setup works properly.

Having some idea of how many people that are able to see a note is extremely important when an individual compare different social media options to judge where it is makes sense to be active. If the reach on Nostr is worse than on a social media where you are shadowbanned, then people will choose the app where they are shadowbanned, if that means a better reach in relation to Nostr.

Thanks! Not so practical yet but we have to start with simple ideas and then extrapolate.

Blixt Wallet is back with the final release in the 0.6.x release line, v0.6.9-420. Nice!

This version has a new feature for Android, Lightning Box.

Lightning Box is a service letting you receive via a Lightning Address non-custodially to your Blixt.

https://github.com/hsjoberg/blixt-wallet/releases/tag/v0.6.9-420

Lightning Box works in conjunction with Persistent Mode that was released in Blixt Wallet v0.6.9.

For things to work out well, make sure battery optimization is disabled.

Battery drain is expected to be low or not noticeable if things go as expected. Reach out if you have issues.

https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/3824379/284913657-1397f859-abff-4deb-bcc0-72657f1d6ff5.webm

The Lightning Box service will forward Lightning Address (LNURL-pay) requests directly to the wallet app on the phone, so it can respond back with an invoice created by the wallet itself.

This means that while this service is not a custodian, there is still trust involved.

Lightning Box is free and open-source software and anyone can choose to run their own service provider.

https://github.com/hsjoberg/lightning-box

In Blixt Wallet settings, you can easily change the server to your own.

The Blixt Wallet project will host a Lightning Box instance for @blixtwallet.com addresses.

A draft bLIP specification for the inner workings of this protocol can be found here:

https://github.com/hsjoberg/blips/blob/lnurl-forwarding/blip-lnurlforward.md

It is built using Lightning P2P messages, so any lightning node wallet implementation can choose to implement this protocol.

That's all for now. Cheers and Happy Blixting! 🟡⚡️

Awesome Hampus!

"The meadow is poisonous but pretty in the autumn.

The cows that graze there are slowly poisoned."

// Guillaume Apollinaire

These lines by Guillaume sometimes return to my mind. The words conjure up the image of a society infused by moneyprinting.

And the cows keep grazing, slowly poisoned as they are by the diseased fields. Yet, the meadows are beautiful in the autumn. There is a superficial charm to the poison.
