Weirdly enough this only shows up in my notifications today πŸ˜†

It is really weird seeing your balance go up randomly, strangers sending you magic internet money ⚑ πŸ§™β€β™‚οΈ

Nope. A single sat in a single input can have an infinitely long witness script (capped at 4MB, obviously).

Again, has absolutely nothing to do with amount of inputs or the amount transacted.

Ordinals have nothing to do with what we're talking about.

Inscriptions are.

And this wouldn't prevent them, it would just make them a lot more cumbersome and expensive - eliminating the current issue of arbitrary witness data storage being more financially incentivised (by lower fees) than normal transactions (vb for vb).

Not really, no. A single 'financial transaction' can also occupy an entire block at 4MB with a complex enough script in the witness.

It was never really tied to inputs/outputs since the witness discount was introduced.

This is wrong. The size of a transaction has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of bitcoin it transacts.

Yes, inscriptions are somewhat wasteful and abuse the witness discount, but they don't really DoS anything. They're still paying for every vB they use, just like any other transaction.

https://iris.to has become quite a nice client to use.

very cool! missing better LN integration.

make sure to 'fix' the default relay limit (input an integer > number of relays you use) in settings if you try it.

Friendly reminder to any newcomers that there is no Damus 'token' or any shitcoin/scamfuckery.

Want to help development? Send sats straight to developers.

Don't get scammed.

Oh yeah not about balance - but astral doesn't show the lightning bolt at all and snort errors out - I don't think they handle lnurl withdraw.
