Had to jump off nostrnests but had a good laugh at the idea of ponzi-nomics being a driving factor in BTC growth. I vividly recall in 2017 when BTC was up to around $1500 USD thinking after grinding it out for 7 years that "it can't get any better than this!!!". Back then people were more concerned that it was not tangible and resided in computers. π€
It was people who believed in it who spent it on pizzas and sending their friends 10+BTC as a "test" that got the initial traction in the first 8 years after genesis block. I wish I had all those tests back. π
This is something similar to what trying to do with nostr:npub16fcy8ynknssdv7s487nh4p2h4vr3aun64lpfea45d7h4sts9jheqevshgh by keeping it a nonprofit. Then can have board and transparency not driven by revenue. π€
Thanks for sharing. My first time seeing. Will review and comment.
Anyone interested in creating our own .nostr domain on OpenNIC?
If so I can setup the Tier 1 and 2 DNS servers.

The only additional caveat is in order to have SSL for .nostr (.nos?) extension would also have to maintain a CA with ACME like LetsEncrypt. Not too hard to setup, but for sure needs to be mentioned.
You have reinvigorated my hope in humanity nostr:npub1wl89d7yazg500lehg08p45dj2jzhhyqg2erj067458e3wd30djns4zn8lu. I thank you for that. ππ«π€
Seems is all a double-edged sword. Either people don't want to pay for a highly available service. Or they complain you sound like PBS asking for donations since a nonprofit. I'd welcome any ideas to keep this sustainable. We have massive growth of relay network users. Especially in Brazil and Singapore nodes.
The issue we see with paid relays is it is not new user friendly. One time paid relays are not long term sustainable. So would have to charge monthly, quarterly, or yearly. We don't see this as sustainable either. We have applied for grants but gotten crickets so far. Over the next few days we'll be announcing our first corporate sponsor. Who will provide donated dedicated servers to the network. The current plan is to keep Relayable a nonprofit. Also will be posting a transparency report next week. - nostr:npub1y3uh89v5a4vq92t8q0j6su94zhvcdxpywjn3l6hpsr5welarqtrqj7yzhd
Agree π―. The same 3 or so relays are the default for most. With most of those, if not all are behind Cloudflare and/or a single point of failure. I've been trying to bring awareness to the shortcomings but is an uphill battle. Is all one big black box. Be it Cloudflare or how the relays are setup is a mystery. Can't even stream from most to replicate data since they use the default WAF on Cloudflare which blocks it along with Tor exit nodes (block or captcha never see since webspckets). So the busiest relays are not really free speech friendly to those in repressive locations who most need it.
The paradox of a decentralized free speech app on the Apple Store is not lost on me.

I need to clean the code up of one I have. Will open source it since no time to work on it.
Yes, had this thought before. I have source for one In use to run and retired could jump start. If someone has time to work on it.
NIPs! NIPs! so many NIPs!
I think it can be done somewhat easily as a PoC. First iteration could be as easy as some relay operators also running their own DNS server like Bind or Unbound. Could in the future do interesting things with nsec used to create DNSSEC. But can be something aside from a NIP.
