I believe the correct term is geeks. π€£
Whatever I believe in fixes this.
I used to go straight to nostr:npub1us9uc0sjjg0vyvh7vefgu2a96hx5up5gujl6pqays65hlk4de6hsnwq4g0 before nostr which was crazy to me when I noticed myself doing it
but that shows you how powerful it could be if clients implemented it and made it interoperable with one another π₯
Why do you think it hasn't been?
Indeed. We have plenty of Bitcoiners who love to go on podcasts already.
The other big difference is social media like Facebook track everywhere you go via mobile app, cookies, browser fingerprinting, 3rd party data sharing, and so on. So when asked for data kn you there is more there. So they get data of GPS and where you have been as example. Comparing that to nostr is like a .22 to a Howitzer.
Depends on VPN provider and if give in to demands depending on legal jurisdiction. Just another layer for them to get through.
Has nothing to do with decentralization. All the Feds need is a backup/scraper for nostr. The relays need warrants to help then track by IP if manhunt. But easily use Tor to skirt that.
Note this was with slower SATA don't think as big issue depending on drives and their speed. Along with read vs write ratio.
My experience with hdd not nearly as good. Get a lot of bad I/O hit since bottleneck
Doing some now with Relayable. In memory has insane performance as far as I can tell.
Reference:
It's weird when companies you have bought from start emailing you like a scorned girlfriend.
Actual email Subjects:
"We're listening! Anything you'd like to share about your experience?"
"Goodbyes are hard..."
"πCan I share your experience"
"π You've come so far"
I hate email. #complainstr
I agree there could be a looming nostr 51% attack (equivalent). When you lock people down to a walled garden relay. With the inability to get nsec exported is a bad combo. Plus having said things recently about being the ones that "made nostr happen" is compoundingly concerning.
I get paid to be paranoid, so hopefully that is all it is. πΎππ
# A Simple and Secure Way to Whistle Blow on nostr
I was thinking through how someone might be sure to hide their identity and post whistleblowing content to #nostr
For sure you want to use at the least the [Tor Browser](https://www.torproject.org/download/) or even better [Tails](https://tails.net/).
One issue with most web clients for nostr is they use a lot of scripting which you ideally do not want to allow since it is a way your true identity (IP address) could be divulged.
The easiest way is to use a site like [nostrdebug.com](https://nostrdebug.com)
Go to the site and add relays it suggests. Lastly adding `wss://nostr.mutinywallet.com`
Go to the [Publisher](https://nostrdebug.com/publisher) page and choose the + icon next to **Private key**. This will generate a new account. Under **Content** add your information be sure to add the #whisleblower tag to it. Along with any other relevant tags to allude to what the note is about. You can use Markdown if needed.
Once done hit "Send" and should see green check message under second column of page on right side. Consider the potential issues of keeping the nsec of this new account since it can tie you back to it. Easier to monitor the comments on the note since nostr DMs currently are not secure enough. Best to keep it completely separate of your usual nostr use.
Alternatively can add a nostr cli client or Gossip on Tails. But this is more overly complicated. This is non guarantee of anonymity, just a thought experiment. π€ππ

Feel same about capslock. π€£
The best part is a black man invented folding chairs. Like a full circle momment. β€οΈπ€£
