JavaScript developer working on some nostr stuff - noStrudel https://nostrudel.ninja - Blossom https://github.com/hzrd149/blossom - Applesauce https://hzrd149.github.io/applesauce

More updates to noStrudel ๐ŸŽ‰

https://nostrudel.ninja

- Added support for custom emojis when writing notes and stream chat

- Added support for @ mentioning someone when writing notes and stream chat

- Added views to browse custom emoji packs

- Added views to browse goals

If you want to play around with the new features you can find the client at: nostrudel.ninja

Or you can host it yourself using docker "docker run --rm -p 8080:80 ghcr.io/hzrd149/nostrudel"

Still playing around with how to display goals. But it like making these kinds of views since it lets you easily explore nostr and discover content

I don't think I could stop if i wanted to. it so much fun to work on nostr clients

If you need a good leather belt I cant recommend this one enough https://originmaine.com/durable-goods/raw-edge-belt-whiskey/

#grownostr

I would say every time they make a significant update to the app they are working one. maybe include a zap button so its easy for the users to send sats

testing emojis in #noStrudel :damus: :amethyst: :coracle: :astral: ๐Ÿ‘

#noStrudel now has a list view where you can manage your existing lists created on https://listr.lol

You can also switch between all your lists (or your friends lists) on the main home feed and a few other views

Oh I see now, some clients are not fully parsing the bolt11 invoice to verity its actually a valid invoice

but the zap receipt is not created by the client, the LNURL server is the one to publish the zap receipt when the invoice is paid

how dose someone spam a fake zaps? is there a bug in another client or are they just publishing unpaid zap receipt events?

Finally got by bluesky invite code. Going to go explore the app and see If I can figure out how it works

Its not on Netflix but its my favorite movie Ive seen this year. I'm waiting for the blu-ray to come out so I can see it again since the animation and music were ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Ye! I saw nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z 's post utilizing different kinds for different file types and had a website ip and running on nostr. Everything is perfect and I'm super hyped about it. All that was left was to solve the ICANN problem =3

To your points:

1. First come first claim. Others can take the same name, but they can't take when the first person who took it is.

2. The NPUB in the Blockchain is the owner of the name and controls the rexords. Transfer of ownership is recorded in the chain.

A) I'm not an expert on this so I can't answer this properly, but I'd imagine a software specified in this would be developed to search for these specific transactions and categorize them for fast searching (if you're running a node with umbrel for example, you'd download that software and use it).

B) That's a... Well, that's an issue with Bitcoin and nostr all together then? x3

That's just a responsibility with the individual that they have to have, like in those 2 protocols, and take the appropriate security measures.

Sorry about all the notification, my replies are tagging everything in this post :(

response:

The first name being the valid one makes sense and dose make use of bitcoins immutability.

A) The issue is the blockchain size and the ability for users to verify names themselves. If the solution requires people to write distributed servers that index these names. then we are back to where we are now with DNS servers. it wouldn't solve the censorship issue because all phones/wifi routes are programmed to point to a DNS server and cant verify anything themselves

B) True, things would be more secure with better key management. but just as you have multiple password across multiple sites to reduce the damage when you get hacked. You would want to have multiple npubs for social/dns management, which kind of defeated the purpose or at least one of the big selling points of this system.

The use of the blockchain to tie names to public keys is novel. but It could only solve the "permission" part of the DNS problem. It cant solve the censorship problem because the only way to verify the names on the blockchain would be download all of it and index the names starting from the earliest.

And while servers can do that easily. no consumer device can easily do that, and so they would have to fallback to trusting a third party (which is where you get censorship)

nostr fixes this?

At least most nostr clients wont have any DRM in them :)

Where can I get one of those nostr pins?

I'm thinking that's what it was. Although now they did it 4 more times... So I'm still confused ๐Ÿ˜•

Although I'm thankful for the sats

I've been dabbling with Nostr packages lately and decided to experiment by creating a real-time mirror of the Bitcoin Mailing List on Nostr, going back to 2011๐Ÿ‘ด

nostr:npub15g7m7mrveqlpfnpa7njke3ccghmpryyqsn87vg8g8eqvqmxd60gqmx08lk

To help catch up on discussions, threads from 2011 and 2023 with multiple responses include AI generated summaries ๐Ÿค–. If this sparks interest, I might expand this feature.

Each sender has an archive account for easy access to all their messages and stats ๐Ÿ“ฌ. The best part is that there's no moderation here - I believe in client-side filtering.

Considering making it two-way: zapped notes could bounce back to the mailing list based on popularity. ๐Ÿ”„ What's your take?

Please note, due to rate limits, it's not on all popular relays. However, for those of you who run a fancy relay and would like to store a backup, I can provide the full npubs whitelist๐Ÿ”’

Lightning mailing list is coming next!โšก๏ธ

Using nostr:npub1ndk0nwqwjajykt5fnlyjhdlp33dffurcmx5vfp2hljp2y7ew62fsq7qfy4 for this was straightforward, shoutout to nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft and the team! Feedback is welcome, let me know your thoughts!

This looks awesome #[0]

its a syntax that lets you easily create diagrams. Its main selling points are its simplicity and how its integrations into Github/Gitlab and plugins for other tools that use markdown. https://mermaid.js.org/ecosystem/integrations.html

If any of you are into legos and have a 3D printer this website has some awesome things to print https://www.4dbrix.com/

Also you can buy full train sets (that are bigger than the lego sets) from https://www.bluebrixx.com/en/bluebrixxspecials/trains

Im not saying you need to cover your whole house in lego trains. but thats what im going to do :D

wordpress/ghost vs nostr blogging... The existing solutions are much more polished but nostr is going to let people start blogging and writing without setting up a domain or server (using habla.news or blogstack.io). then when they want a domain and server they can just use something like https://github.com/jacany/nblog or https://github.com/nodetec/ublog

Image hosting is going to need a good solution though. for now none of the clients I mentioned support uploading images.

What I found so far:

I poked around in the main lenster.xyz app and it looks like all the images are being stored on IPFS and served from https://gateway.ipfscdn.io which is either the official ipfs gateway or one the lens protocol setup.

The videos seemed a little different, on the lenster app they were being stored on ipfs and fetched thought the gateway. but on the lenstube.xyz app it looks like the videos are being stored and served from an aws s3 bucket.

As for "I own my posts" from what i could gather from their docs. each Profile, Post, Reply, etc is a unique NFT that is "owned" by the users wallet

also it looks like they have the concept of "collecting" posts which i think means another user can mint a copy of the NFT that is the post? I dont really know though...

I tried to setup a new eth wallet using meta mask and login to lenster but it said I need to claim my profile and said my newly created eth address was not eligible. (so much for permission-less social media)

I dont think I can dig any further into it since I cant login to their apps (and of course there is no way to run them locally)

IMO gpt-3 would be a bigger deal if people could download it and run it locally. Can't innovate on someone else's platform when they keep changing the rules.

cool, thanks for the links ill give these a shot.
