It’s a shame Damus has become an ordinary iOS app.

I wouldn't call that "web of trust", but sure it helps. It doesn't help, for example, if someone is trolling by using a different name or something like that.

Best ways to get the feature you want in an open source project:

1. Send a PR with your code/design

2. Create a bounty (so that another dev is incentived to do it for you)

3. Create a feature request ticket.

4. Help the project organize tickets.

5. Create tutorials and other content to help the project.
