I’ve listened to you and Marty for a while now and I appreciate some of the information I get from your podcasts. I think people are aggressive on this topic due to the fact that it’s not written in stone that bitcoin will always be the best money if something ignorant is allowed to happen. Do I have the answers? No. Does something feel off? Yes. Is anybody articulating in a very digestible manner why things were done? No. The things I’ve read so far don’t add up, and I’m told that I’m basically too stupid and should just accept what the almighty engineers and the influencers conjure. I know, I know, run v29.

“I’m confident over time monetary use of bitcoin is what humanity will value most.”

“There’s no faith in humanity.”

Which is it? Rhetorical question. No need for an answer because it’s irrelevant to me.

Started development at 11 years old in 1981. Have an engineering degree. Developed large scalable applications for major corporations. Have not taken the dive into bitcoin code and would need to ramp up again on C++, but you know my capabilities. What you think you know from assumptions only and what you say reeks of stupidity and arrogance. Good luck.

I’d rather not risk 95% of my wealth on someone’s faith in humanity when we have slavery, human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, etc. The code can enforce the monetary use without financial censorship. That is exactly what it should do. If someone wants data storage, set up your storage and fucking own it!

Ok, so you acknowledge that there was a large increase in spam after the op return change and you’re ok with that potentially happening on the bitcoin network is what I think you’re saying. I never mentioned BSV’s value.

How about the precedence that BSV set by opening up op return code? The network was hammered when they did this. To me that is a legitimate concern, and I question why developers would take the same path. The blast radius from a $500 million network will pale in comparison to a $2 trillion+ network.

I think that’s referencing the fact that authorities could potentially attack node runners consenting to this, not Luke’s personal legal team. Correct? How is that a threat and not just making people aware that they could be stepping into a hornet’s nest?

Is there a threat I’m missing?

A non consensus soft fork happens, and I choose to run v29 because core shoved it down people’s throats. I have to stay on 29 yo dissent as more and more nodes adopt v30,31,32. Eventually 29 is not supported. What the hell do I do then?

I’m so fuck’n sick of this shit. Core for shoving v30 down people’s throats and some cringe shit from Luke, although I think he has legitimate concerns as well. If there’s no way to say fuck all of them, we lose. Yeah yeah yeah run a node in our silo. That doesn’t fix this!

The body is dead, bloated and stinking. Search and rescue has yet to locate it, but you can smell it. Once it’s located, people will be held to account. Interesting times.

A lot of things are fucked up. One liners without context are fucked up. Removing a moat that somewhat prevents shit on the network of humanity’s first shot at true money, is fucked up…. In my opinion.

No! That’s a fuck’n retarded question!

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s just degrees of friction. I can have my company’s data centers built out in different regions and run my own hardware, middleware and software. It’s just a lot more difficult than someone coming up with a decentralized version of “Amazon” and me using that. Providers would sell excess hardware capacity to users like is done in Akash Network, which is not on bitcoin payment rails. Someone could possible take Akash open source solution, rip out the shitcoinery and use lightning or cashu payments…. Maybe.

Yes, nostr relays don’t depend on particular infrastructure. How about complex apps that may use databases, require redundancy, must be performant, need fault tolerance, etc, that want to use nostr protocol and provide edge locations around the world? Where do those run?

White noise fixes the messaging focused issue, unless I’m misunderstanding. It doesn’t fix the cloud infrastructure centralization issue. Are there any projects addressing the broader issue?

Akash Network. Deploy Kubernetes apps on 50+ providers and you can fund with bitcoin. It’s not directly on bitcoin rails, but a hell of a lot better than Amazon. It’s open source, so nothing is preventing someone from forking and making bitcoin the native payment.

Decentralized infrastructure - Akash network. You can fund with bitcoin. You can run kubernetes apps on 50+ providers around the world. I don’t know of anything built directly atop bitcoin that provides this. No, I’m not a shitcoiner. I recognize value when I see it.

I’ll probably be called a shit coiner for this, but there are going to be a handful of projects out there that provide value beyond the bitcoin ecosystem. Could they be implemented atop bitcoin? Perhaps and they may be eventually. But Akash Network (on Cosmos) is decentralized cloud infrastructure that allows rapid deployment of Kubernetes apps on 50+ providers across the globe. No vendor lock in - google, azure, Amazon, etc. You can fund with bitcoin on Akash, but they do use their own token within the ecosystem. Is something like this being built that would be considered bitcoin native?

Bitcoin prevents theft of time and energy. Free and open speech allows one to expose the theft. Is it the chicken and the egg question?

So you want a censored platform so you feel good? At least here you know what others think, whether it aligns with your views or not. Don’t get me wrong, I think anybody that comes on and hurls insults anonymously with no threat of retribution is a little bitch. That goes both ways.

I don’t come on here for an echo chamber and confirmation of my opinion. I speak my mind and if it resonates with someone, great.
