I follow 1300 people and some may say those are rookie numbers. I try to follow as many people as I find interesting. Unlike twitter YOU are the algorithm. It doesn’t feed you, you need to feed it with people you want to hear from.

This is a common issue with #Xitter users moving to #NOSTR. Most come here for a day and follow 100 people and when their feed lacks interesting content they go back to X to have the algo feed them more BS. In fiat land where followers equates to how much value you can extract from your following, and follower ratio is important to look important, here is quite the opposite. You want to follow as many users here that you find interesting as possible, to be more involved in the conversations. That's the only way to get a diverse feed, since there is no algo tailored to keeping your eyeballs engaged so you see injected adverts.
