I think they probably didn't realize yet that they can build whatever they were already building, but use nostr under the hood and 1000x their user base.

I’m still fascinated and puzzled by self-proclaimed bitcoiners who are seething over nostr. Not indifferent or bemused, but actively anti-. It’s wild.

I helped design DID (well, a bit). It's perfectly possible for different systems to have different URI schemes, in fact, it's encouraged at internet scale, which is the path to interoperability

nostr already has decentralized identifiers. In fact they are more decentralized than DIDs because the canonicalization does not depend on an http context, or on external vocabs and schemas, including xml schemas

It would not be hard to give nostr a URI scheme, and I think it can be done by cherry picking the best parts of DID, and throwing out the bloat, the technical debt, external centralized dependencies and stuff that doesnt work, such as range of the did resolution function

nostr URI schemes can be simple, self-contained and truly decentralized, allowing internet scale interop

So far people are coalescing around nostr:npub.. type things, which I wasnt fond of at first, but is growing on me

Today was an amazing day for #nostr! We made a lot of progress, including:

- Launching 3 apps on Android

- Implementing Key Rotation

- Adding Git/SSH Keys from a Nonstr Seed

- Developed the first bot framework that allows bots to consume sats and also receive tips

- Established a working Web of Trust

- Examined a new native Android client

- Added Alby and Lightning capabilities to both Android phones and tablets

- Developed a .net client

- Created two Relay as a Service One-Click Services

- Performed an Umbrel and Ride the Lightning integration design.

All of this progress was achieved in a single day. Incredible!
