I think they checked out nostr a while back and said it sucks. Nostr 2 months ago is not the nostr of today. These people have the highest of expectations and don’t realize things take time to build/improve.

Yeah, totally. This is what i've been puzzled over.
I mean, there are valid criticisms and things that need to be worked on in the clients of course but it's analog to the anger people have over Bitcoin.
I am not sure if these Bitcoiners are self aware that they throw our the same arguments that nocoiners and fiat apologists have been saying for years.
My favorites still are:

"You need to advertise it on twitter, not gonna make it"
"Everyone isn't using it, it's dead in the water"

Maybe I’ve been living under a rock but what is the argument against nostr? Is it somehow against some version of the bitcoiner ethos?

Lmao the iOS client has been out on the App Store for a few weeks, what do they expect. Bitcoin is like 14 years old and still isn’t the global monetary stand but I don’t see these people saying it’s DOA.

...which is by itself kinda ridiculous, i mean, when the main point of contention is "bad ui/ux" then your problem isn't with *nostr* itself which is a PROTOCOL but with how a single CLIENT interprets this protocol which somehow isn't working to your likings. don't like how the data is being displayed? use another client for crying out loud!!

Only ones I’ve run into so far are working on other social projects or protocols, and they’re pissed theirs didn’t take off.
I think they probably didn't realize yet that they can build whatever they were already building, but use nostr under the hood and 1000x their user base.
Oh no, they've been polishing their baby for years and years now. All behind the scenes, and they're not ready to release it yet, but snarky about everyone using other technologies and just fucking shipping.
