So the folks at #Gemini are doing maintenance during business hours?! 😳

I was able to buy some BTC an hour ago.

But I can't take custody.

Sat stacking Trade-offs;

You can buy BTC, non kyc at a premium peer to peer

Or

You can buy BTC, kyc where they have a lock out period.

These lock out periods vary from 10 - 30 days depending on your specific situation and exchange.

I just paused all kyc dca bc I have more sats on exchanges then I am comfortable having.

So for the next 30 days only buying non kyc sats.

Or at least until all current sats have been unlocked for self custody.

Have been supporting my mom with it for 6 months now. She doesn't even know it.

She has a card, she uses it just like any card. But I get to fill it up for her every month using BTC.

There is a 3rd party involved though. So, I can improve this a little bit with some training next time I'm in FL.

A few words/terms in the BTC community which I don't personally care for:

Orange pilled. I've used it before but it didn't sit right in my gut.

Pleb. Didn't know what it was until i was πŸ‘†πŸŸ πŸ’Š

Shitcoin. I get it and why it came to be. But again, doesn't sit right with me.

With all that said, to each their own. Words are just words. Make of it what you will.

Writers occasionally experience writers block.

I'm currently experiencing an innovation block. In the past, typically resolved by taking a 3 week cross country trip on the motorcycle.

Not an option right due to family obligations. Well, not an option until September'ish.

Meanwhile there's a line in the hallway waiting.

Blame it on NOSTR peeps.

Step 3 of #BeYourOwnBank

As mentioned in my earlier note, I am on step 3, but simultaneously continuing with steps 1&2.

A - set up your own Bitcoin node(s).

B - open channels to businesses you patronize regularly. Try to make these business that accept Bitcoin. I.e. coffee shop, landlord, local farm, the dog sitter, housekeeper, etc.

Review your monthly recurring expenses and find alternatives that accept Bitcoin. This may take months or years depending on your specific situation. It all depends on how urgent of a goal you make of it.

Having no mortgage or car payments, makes this easier as those are usually the largest recurring expenses. But it took some years to get here.

C - turning up a second node might be useful as a training tool. I am trying this out now. More to come with my progress on that front.

D - follow and connect with experienced node operators on NOSTR and Telegram. Hence why I am here. Well that and the memes. Nostr has some of the best memes in all media.

I had a couple private sessions with Ben from BTC Sessions. This was hugely helpful in getting me started with basic mechanics of managing a node. Most of the information you need is available for free on his channel. But if your time is limited (which mine is) the private session is a quick and dirty way to learn what you need in relative short order.

In short, the objective at step 3 is opening channels to businesses and individuals that you have monthly recurring payments to. If one of these business will not accept BTC. Make note and do some research to find alternatives that do accept BTC or are open to learning about it.

The node and channels will essentially be used similarly to your checking account.

Your node shouldnt have more then 2 months expenses. The bulk of your BTC should be managed with a hard wallet (think of it as a vault).

To the experienced node operators, I welcome your feed back on these steps so far.

Below is a rando picture of a path to one of my favorite hiding places and has absolutely nothing to do with this note. 😢

I had to look this up.

When I bought my first Bitcoin.

But Bitcoin didn't make sense or matter to me until about 2 years ago. So I think I would put myself in the class of 2021.

Decentralized market place?!

That first dude is in jail doing multiple life sentences.

Who wants to be the second?!

Some folks are trying to stress e l o n over blue birds, blue checks, can he walk and chew gum at the same time with tesla, escape to Mars, etttttt setera.

He is building shit!

I'm going to mind my business and take notes as he does the same, maybe, I can learn some shit.

#my2sats

And I have several paid blue checks on the blue bird app. Whatevs....

We are early!

They are pushing out new features at speeds unmatched in the corp space (like fortune 50 corp space).

The best #nostr experience with #Pixel7Pro is using the #Amethyst client.

It's feature rich and things work.

Thanks to the team making the magic (or math) happen behind the scenes.

I am waiting on my second one to come in.

For similar reason.

[Sit on draft for 2 days before you hit "post".

Yeah. 2 days later, I'm posting]

This is the type of institutional and societal break downs to expect as we chase yield/rent on energy in attempts to keep up.

Ziplock locks on your ziplock bags, don't lock!

Self check out at the grocery store is now just as fast as the live cashier check out. So why isn't my bill lower if I use the self check out?!

People walk into stores, grab shit and walk out without paying. I've seen this happen on many occasions in the last few months.

I visit my doctor for my annual physical (I only see dude once a year) he stuck his head in for a sec and said hi. Don't know who these other folks were. Students I presume. AM I HEALTHY?!

You drop your car off at the dealer (one you've been using for 10 years) for the regularly scheduled maintenance (60k miles) and there are loose parts, missing parts and rattling sounds when they return your car to you. So you have to go back 3 days later to have a hopefully improved customer experience.

You order a protein shake at a (suburban) train station booth that cost $11 (it was $6 3 years ago) and the cashier is waiting for her tip before she'll place your order. I walk off. I'm not mad at her. Inflation is a bitch, I'd probably do the same in her situation.

A driver hits your car while..driving. She pulls over briefly (long enough for me to take a picture of the car and plates) and drives off.

How do I know airlines are not cutting back on plane maintenance.

How do I know that property managers are not cutting back on elevator maintenance for high rise buildings which I use when mining fiat.

You dial 911 3 times in 25 years in the most recent 2 years and the police have never showed up. And I don't dial 911 for silly shit.

You go to the police station to file a report and the officer at the desk is rude, disrespectful, clearly does not want to be at the window doing customer service, let alone deal with your accident report.

You return to police station 2 days later to get a copy of the report. The printout is useless because they are out of printer ink. And in the report the perp was driving my car and lived at my address. And the current officer thought I cared how that might have gotten messed up.

Oh, and you can add to that I caught a $36 parking ticket for being 3 minutes over on the meter, bc the 911 dispatcher did not even know where precinct 9 was and sent me to the wrong address.

Meanwhile property tax going up, crime on the up.
