I have a question that may sound stupid.

You mention your starts with compost and biochar.

I started all my raised beds with a mix of mushroom compost and some other compost from the local landscape store. I haven't have any issues with growing, but everyone i mention this too screech (not really) about growing in 100% compost is bad and you should never do it.

Is there a problem, legitimate or not, with using straight compost in gardens?

I always had my ducks and chickens together, as it started to get dark, the chickens would go to bed, encouraging the ducks to do the same.

We might live in a rental, but growing some food and having pretty landscapes is important too me.

The veggie garden under lights. Almost finished putting in the steps and the new seat is being painted ready to install. No more sitting on the sandstone blocks drinking my coffee in the morning.

This might be retarded, but I would just look into a band or watch, I personally wear a garmin watch. The health metrics alone make it more helpful than just steps and distance, It also helps that, if not carrying your phone, all metrics are still recorded

This whole house of cards cant end well, but at the same time, I cant see it ending at all. Here in Australia, we have had a massive bubble in housing for....well about 30 years. Not to the absurd levels of China, but a consistent "go fuck yourself" to anyone trying to get into the housing market. There SHOULD be a crash in housing, but I cant see it happening, to much government fuckery. And I'd bet all western nations are in exactly the same boat.
