I loved hearing your story homeschooling so far! I was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school with similar faith based curriculum, and I absolutely plan to homeschool my future kids (I just need to find a wife first lol).
If/when your kids start studying topics that you know very little about, stick with homeschooling. By high school, my mom knew almost none of that math or science material I was learning, but she had already taught be to learn independently, which helped me to learn the material even better. That ability to learn independently also helped me massively through college and I just graduated with a BS in Chemistry with honors, and I’m about to attend one of the top 10 universities in the country to get a MS in Chemical Engineering.
I also wouldn’t have found ₿itcoin or Nostr if I hadn’t been homeschooled. The economics curriculum I did (the Uncle Eric books by Richard Mayberry) fascinated me and I dug way deeper into Austrian economics and libertarianism than was required, and eventually that rabbit trail led to ₿itcoin. If it wasn’t for the flexibility from homeschooling, I never would have been able to pursue that interest, let alone been exposed to those ideas in the first place.
All that to say, I think it’s amazing that you’re homeschooling your kids. Even when it feels like you aren’t qualified, it’s still a far better option than the alternatives.
