Had a reversal a month ago so we can try for more.

I’m banding on 11-52 fertilizer on alfalfa of all things. I think it’s one of the easiest ways to get alfalfa going in the spring. The disc openers are very low disturbance and the slots can’t even be seen in just a few days. This will be year 4 of alfalfa on this circle. I’m hoping that after another 4 or more years the pigweed seed bank will be destroyed. That’s another option to fight weeds in ag. #farming #grownostr

I built a chicken tractor for my hens. I’m afraid they’d disappear on me or get into trouble if I free range them. Plus I’m hoping they will tear up the puncturevine and weeds in the yard if I run them in certain spots. We shall see. #grownostr #chickens

I started seeds feb 10. My tomato plants seem huge and the peppers look good but are smaller which is probably just as well. I made my own potting soil and added some mycorrhizal pellets when I dropped the seed in. #grownostr

This is my first winter with chickens. I had quail for the last 2 years and it was very important with the quail to keep dry and out of the wind.

The girls seem to be doing alright with the cold today. I recently put these old dresser shelves in so they had a little more protection from the wind. #grownostr #chickens
