It was there before fiat, as was the circular economy before Bitcoin. It just seems like tourists are taking away something by reducing it to one facet and taking away its name. I get where it comes from, but i disagree with it.
As a Guatemalan, I don't know how I feel about this rebranding of Atitlán into Bitcoin Lake. The lake has been there for millennia and its full of reasons to go other than Bitcoin. Its history is magical, ancestral and it feels like you're ignoring that by changing its name.

I was in agreement with her point but pointing to a different hypocrisy within the BTC community. I honestly don't know anyones opinion on here, but I've seen so called crypto anarchists gawking at the prospect of Gary Gensler labelling eth a security and that seems like a big departure from the original ethos.
Imagine being a bitcoiners and supporting Gary Genslers crackdown on Coinbase and shitcoins. Selective truth much?

The Montana state legislature voted to ban TikTok in the state. The bill would prevent a company from allowing people in Montana to download the app.

The bill states that the reasoning is because 1) China is an adversary to the U.S. and 2) TikTok promotes harmful behavior and collects data on users.
It was sponsored by a Republican and mostly passed by Republicans. Most Democrats opposed it but were outvoted. It still needs to be signed by the governor, and it would be open to court challenges.
I don't like TikTok, but that's not a promising snapshot for where lawmakers are in terms of software control.

She's right. As long as the US can denominate its own debt in its own currency to finance the biggest army and force others to also buy its debt, it can keep issuing unlimited debt. Works great and doesn't make enemies.
