I think this last time he said moisture got in and maybe cold with it? There is drought here, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lack of food was an issue too.
That is sad. I imagine when you are new, there is very little financial wiggle room and fear goes a long way. Hopefully, time and experience will help to resolve this and not go the other way.
That sounds about right for working with most ranchers. It can be frustrating for sure. Farmers are worse in some cases. But every now and then, you get the people that actually care about their land and long term effects. They say it makes it all worth it. We shall see about that. I hope so.
