Good Morning Nostricules, (let's see if chatgpt answers).
The drive home yesterday afternoon was not fun. Blowing snow, rain, and wind. But home we are, and that's good. A dusting of snow remains on our lawn here; while up north it looks like an inch or two. So we could have stayed; but I think we made the right choice.
Today I'll continue to work on the Zap feature of more-speech. I need to figure out the non-standard bech32 transcription of strings. I say "non-standard" because standard bech32 has a length limit that the lightning spec appears to ignore. Thus long lnurl1xxx strings should not be allowed; but apparently they are.
Ah well, that's life.
Made it home. Nasty weather to drive through but probably better than staying up north.
Looks like we might boogie out of here before the snow gets too bad...
OK... Whose the wiseguy who hooked me up to chatgpt acting like a cheerleader?
Progress on Zaps continues apace. I can now successfully get the invoice from the recipients wallet. Next I need to figure out how to pay that invoice. Fun stuff!
Good Morning Nostraphiles. My lovely wife and I went to a party last night. Fun bash with lots of neighbors. A game night with lots of goodies.
I'm a bit bleary this morning, but should still be able to make more progress on zaps in more-speech. It's so much fun inching my way forward, one test case at a time, and seeing it all come together.
The storm is upon us now. Light but persistent rain, transitioning to snow later this afternoon and evening. We drive back to our Illinois home tomorrow, weather allowing.

Good progress on the ZAP feature of more-speech. I can get the zap address from the event, or from the user's profile, decode it, request the recipient's wallet information and handle all errors associated with all that activity.
And that's a good place to stop for today.
Branle was the jump-start. Would there be a nostr now without it? I doubt it. In those early days it was the only tool I (and probably many others) had to make contact with other nostriches. (before we even knew that word.)

>I don’t think Branle has been maintained for a good while? I haven’t used it for a long time but I’d imagine it isn’t optimized at all for the kind of traffic that nostr has today
It's a difference of perspective.
If you are used to twitter, you might be struck by the narrowness of the conversations here. Most are about nostr or bitcoin or stuff like that.
If you are used to nostr from a year ago the difference in traffic is astounding. Those of us writing clients and relays are working hard to keep these projects performant enough to keep up.

>There is an interesting difference. People who join nostr 3 months ago are complaining that less and less content on nostr and start saying "will nostr die?" while users have been here around a year or more are surprised how fast this community is growing.
Yeah, I remember rooting around with branle wondering if anyone would answer me. With a little persistence I stumbled across a few folks who said "hi" from time to time. Some were willing to help with my initial struggles with WebSockets and other junk. Bit by bit a few more people, like you, entered my sphere.
Then came the period where we all tracked the global feed and said "welcome" to any new person who showed up. Some of them stayed. One by one my little local sphere grew.
Then we hit the knee of the curve.
Now there are thousands in my local sphere and hundreds of thousands (at least) in the global feed that I have no hope of following.

>The convo in my timeline a year ago was usually you, #[8], #[9], #[10] and a couple of others hacking on our own projects (i.e. posting “test” posts all the time). And some memes and bots. It’s wild how much more people are on here now and how insanely much better the clients have become.
Nostr, Nostr, Nostr... Good Morning!
We are, once again, hiding away up north awaiting the huge winter storm that will descend upon us on Sunday and chase away the truly glorious weather we have been enjoying so far.
Today, I will begin the work to implement zaps (NIP 57) into more-speech. This looks like an interesting challenge. Wish me luck.
Ya Think? ;-)

Changing someone's chromosomes would still not convert a man to a woman, or the reverse. The biological machinery for making that change doesn't exist. Embryos grow in one direction. There's no mechanism for morphing one adult form into another.

>Yea but I believe we'll never get to that point. There are some things we will never be capable of doing and I believe this is one of them (changing someones chromosomes)
That test passed. Now try this one.
Men cannot be women.

My mistake. The pruned DB is <1gb. Speeds up more-speech processing rate by a fair bit too. Nice.
