I'm not a fan of democrat policies, which he mostly buys into. I'm also leery of his conspiratorial tendencies. e.g. I don't think wifi is killing anyone, and I don't think there's anything in the water turning people trans.

BTW, the US has become a Bananna Republic, and Joe Biden is the Chief Bananna. And he's rotten to the core. Donald Trump is also a rotten bananna.

Good God there's got to be someone else out there for the parties to nominate. Not Gavin Newsome please. And I've got my doubts about RFK.

GM PV Notroids, my recent travels are at an end, the resulting accumulated backlog has been eroded, and I rode 30 miles yesterday on my Terra Trike. I've got a plan for the next modifications to more-speech.

The main problem is that I treat the relay websockets in unison rather than as independent devices. I open them all at once, and wait for them all to be open. When I send I send to all at the same time. This has to end.

So my next more-speech project is to create asyncronous processes for each websocket so that I can start sending as the websockets open, and I can queue up messages to those websockets that open later, or close down and then reopen.

This shouldn't be too hard because the input side of the websockets is already asynchronous. Right now I'm debating whether I should use clojure channels, or agents as the message queuing mechanism. I'm leaning towards agents.

I’m reading about Charles Babbage. What an interesting character! His struggles over the difference engine and with the scientific community of the time are reminiscent of the struggles of our own industry over the last few decades.

Well said. The problem with the corruption of our institutions is that trust is eroded in everything.

Is there a problem? Of course there is, we've known that for over a century, and it became basic concern in the '60s. We could have avoided much of the problem had the environmentalists not thrown a hissy fit over Nuclear power. Now those same people are throwing hissy fits over oil.

The bottom line, however, is that energy is wealth. The bottom three quarters of the population want that wealth, and they are going to get it come Hell or High Water (no pun intended) and there's very little we can do to stop that. Nor, morally speaking should we stop that.

So we're going to be generating a LOT more power over the coming decades, and we'd better have a high capacity way of doing it that can be distributed economically. Wind and Solar will help; but will fall far short of what we need. That means lots of small nuclear power generators scattered all over the planet. Uranium at first, then Thorium.

One day we might get modular fusion plants, but that seems N years off no matter when you ask.

Each hour is divided into 45 min of lecture and 15 min of Q&A. The lecture part is pretty free wheeling. If you are familiar with my work much will be recognizable to you; but some will not. My views have been refined over the years. The value add for you would be in the Q&A and in the manner in which the information is presented.

Yes, and I'm looking forward to the debate this month. My main beef with Vivek is his age and inexperience. I prefer governors over young entrepreneurs and senators.

When you are asked to estimate always respond with a range. Be as honest as possible about the width of that range. Your boss needs to understand the risks so that the risks can be managed. (What else do you think managers manage?)

Give each estimate using three dates: Earliest(5%)/Nominal(50%)/Latest(95%).

Never offer a single date unless you KNOW you can make it.

When challenged to make a date you’ve declined, never say you’ll “try” because that’s a lie.

A professional is someone who knows how and when to say: “No!”

You cannot fail a sprint. Sprints cannot fail.

The purpose of a sprint is to produce management data. A sprint that delivers zero stories has produced very important and useful data for managers.
