i'd be interested to hear what your diet consists of, if you'd like to share.
Eventually we’ll have to park our sats somewhere else for Bitcoin to scale. It could be a L2 solution like lightning or Liquid, so we have to think about which path we’d like to go down. Have you read this scaling article by James O’Beirne?

this seems like the shittiest timeline.
you misspelled poophole.
i urge you to research what an LN payment channel is.
funds on LN don't sit "in a wallet." you do not have that sort of passive security.
"probably won't steal" is more accurate.
you *will* have a channel open with the ACINQ node. is your Phoenix node always online? are you using a watchtower? your own or from a service?
i am not saying ACINQ is going to steal channel balances. they are incentivized to support their customers.
using Phoenix is entering into a banking business partnership with ACINQ. they are making decisions about how to handle your payments, and you are paying them to do so.
seek out different opinions.
if only to sharpen your arguments, but that's not the main thing. someone else may have already solved your "problems."
but this venture into the unknown is useless without an appropriately tuned critical mind.
do not trust. test and verify.
do not trust. test and verify.
but a centralized service, ACINQ, controls the opening and closing of "your" channels, you will likely route through their node for most payments (for a fee).
i understand this, but you've glossed over my point.
with LN routing, i have no control over the final route, my payment can go through any number of nodes, those nodes can charge me to use their liquidity.
it may seem like this process solves problems, but they are problems that could be avoided in the first place, by using a less abstract layer of Bitcoin, or an alternative.
additionally, i *should* know who i'm paying beforehand, even if it is with Lightning. i should be able to plan and open/close channels for myself, choose which nodes i connect to, without rent-seekers imposing themselves on my payment.
100%
his expression is hard to pin down. is he disappointed? is he laughing to himself, or is he just so so sad?
it shouldn't be surprising that people lack access to potable water. it's a tragedy, but very common.
i was trying to clarify language used to advertise the product.
if routing a payment requires using other channels and nodes, then there are intermediaries.
if it's expensive and "bad UI" to avoid (what should be unnecessary) intermediaries on LN, it's a bad network.
🚨Not everyone knows how to deploy a server, but everyone can run an app on their phone⚡️
We've teamed up with Spiral & LDK and began working on the BTCPay App.
Aiming to replicate the success and impact of the BTCPay Server for e-commerce payments, the BTCPay App is laser-focused on brick-and-mortar business.
To scale #bitcoin effectively, lightning must be user-friendly and non-custodial for mom-and-pop stores!
We're beginning a long journey, but it's the only way to stay on track with our mission -ensuring anyone can accept bitcoin, anywhere, anytime without intermediaries. 🚀

is this app opening/closing LN channels directly with the consumer for every transfer? if not, then there are intermediaries.
it's a play on the idea of a "grassroots" campaign, one built from the ground up by regular people, but fake. astroturf is fake grass, so a fake campaign pretending to be "by the people."
so the "free market" you are hyping does not (yet?) exist, but you speak of it as if it will solve our woes.
good luck. i'm not holding my breath.
doesn't seem that rare to me. capitalism in the USA depends on central banks overseen / controlled by the government, with a monetary system overseen / controlled by the government. politicians use their place in state apparatus to enrich themselves in the capitalist fashion. corporations and businesses use US state legal systems supported by military power to pursue capitalist goals.
consumer goods =/= riches
> Statists love compelled labor.
porque no los dos? you say this like statists can't be / aren't capitalists.
capitalism demonstrably does not make everyone rich.
and capitalists looooove compelled labor.
