Most things don’t require a deep dive.

I don’t even think you need to read or listen to an entire book to understand the subject.

There are a bunch of ways to get the basic concept of anything. A short YouTube video, ChatGPT summary of a book/article/study, a podcast, etc. A few short paragraphs, sometimes even just one paragraph is usually all you need to understand the basics.

Want to be an expert in a field? Sure, dive in. But most people definitely get the most value by just digesting a few short summaries of the topic and actually use the extra time to put those ideas into practice.

A great example is the book “Influence” by Robert Cialdini. I read and listened to the book and then heard a clip of a podcast he was on where he explained the 7 principles in 7 minutes or less. Yes, the book has lots of examples but all you really need are the 7 principles and a brief explanation.

There is also a theory how war excels technology innovation, without war we wouldn’t be at the current stage of innovation level we are today may not even would have bitcoin or nuclear power.

That said, the ultimate question would be, if war triggers this potential in mankind how can we tap into this without war then?

It’s interesting because over in the mainstream world, everyone seems to be enthralled with ‘proof of humanity’ as the ultimate solution to trust and the A.I. malaise. Just because you’re human doesn’t mean I should like you or trust you. Just because you’re a bot, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t find you useful. The WoT is a great way to enable nice people and good bots on the terms of whatever the WoT decides to set. The relays are a great start for permissionless WoTs.

All this to say, I am seeing way more creative thinking and solutions here than over there.

If you are seeing lots of replyguy spam make sure you aren’t casting a massive net and adding a bunch of public relays with no rate limiting to your relay list. Keep a smaller list of relays that you trust. If it’s a public relay, ask the operator what kinds of spam protections are enabled.

Think “know your farmer” aka “know your relay operator“.

I’ve seen so many accounts with like 30 public relays. You’re just asking to get spammed 😅

Maybe one day you can do this and clients spam protections will handle everything, but we’re not there yet.
