I have a question for people who have been through really hard times. Not a bad day or a bad week, but extended periods of grinding, crushing hardship. (If you know, you know.)

My question is: what did other people do to support you that helped? Especially long distance friends (cf pandemic).

So many people I care about are struggling and deeply suffering. I want to find ways to be a better friend.

I wouldn't mind getting a small compost bin for the yard. Anything that is halfway affordable is plastic -- I do not want to buy or own plastic, or add microplastics to my soil.

Anything wood I've found so far does not have a lid.

Anything metal is exorbitant.

I need a turnkey solution not a DIY project.

I'm a renter. I'd love to compost kitchen waste and improve the soil. I can't afford these costs, so no go.

Last night I dreamed I was licking rocks.

They were delicious, in case you were wondering, in a mineral sort of way.

In a new space station adventure, I have made my own #hojicha.

I had some #GreenTea that was fresh, not stale, and pleasant, but too cooling for what my body will tolerate in current cool temperatures.

I did a small test batch of pan roasting -- a stainless steel pan on medium, tossing the leaves, keeping a close eye and paying attention to the scent so they didn't burn.

The end result is delightful. It's a richer, warmer #tea that makes my body happy!

I have reusable N95s with replaceable filters. They've worked out to be very cost effective. I need to get more filters, too, as well as replacement filters for my air purifiers.

I finally managed to order myself some dried longan. Today I made myself an infusion of longan, goji berries (wolf berries), Chinese red dates (jujubes), and fresh ginger with raw honey. It was absolutely heavenly.

I am thrilled to be able to add longan into the mix.

A question for people who have emergency back-up solar generators:

How did you calculate what size to get?

This is far outside my experience, I'm keen to learn from people who know their (solar) onions.
