Nations are quite simply incompatible with the internet.
Like Catholicism after the printing press, or Monarchy after the death of God, they can never again be more than shells of their former selves.
This is inevitable, but..
The urge to resist this new reality could cause untold suffering, like the 30-Years War after the printing press, and the World Wars after the death of God.
Is this avoidable? Can we forge a new order in peace? Or must the old literally die first?
Never ever be open about your issues. The only people who care are those who can use it against you. And that'll probably cost you far more than whatever issue you started with.
The only benefit is rooting out the sharks in the water.
Are all EVs basically car bombs now, or does it only work with pagers?
Trump dodging bullets like Kamala dodges interviews.
First day with temperatures >20° and I'm SO DONE with winter already.
I have yet to see a Green Party suggest that we should cut public services to pay for green policies.
They always prefer bigger government over smaller emissions.
So the threat can't be THAT existential 🤷
I usually brag about how brilliant my kids are, but today they broke my $1.2k screen by trying to get the (non-existent) touch to work.

Are you angry?
I fear that when we reject moderate criticisms of the World War II narrative, we fuel the rise of something far worse 😕
If we can barely question Allied choices without being accused of Holocaust-denial, we push those with questions to the right.
Until they fall off the edge 👇

It's a bubble.

My 7-year old came out this morning.
We always knew she was nuts, but didn't realize she was coconuts. In hindsight, all the signs were there.
Is it just a phase? Do we let her transition? Order an exorcism? 🥸

I guess I don't, but I see many accounts spouting the same nonsense talking points as a decade ago.
Norway has decided to replace it's ENTIRE government district to the tune of 5 BILLION $.
The 4100 office spaces will cost over 1 MILLION $ each, a THOUSAND $ for every Norwegian alive.
It's not news, but I can't stop thinking about it.

A good change. And appropriate after all the shit we've seen.
I suspect that this doesn't apply so much to people on Nostr. What's the biggest change in your adult life?

There many lenses. One I like is thinking of the 1914-1989 conflict as a war over what to believe after the death of God. Imperialism or self-determination, globalism or nationalism, communism or capitalism, etc. That's why the post-war consensus is so sacred.
There was only one world war and it lasted from 1914 to 1989.

Would Churchill be remembered as the good guy if Germany won?
