because for your channel state to update you have to be online to sign the multisig transaction. Think of it as a bar tab with the amount of bitcoin that would go to each party of the channel when it settles onchain.
it’s difficult to work on, bitcoin L1 is super constrained in what you can do, so it complicates L2 design. This is why covenants would be nice, simplifies a lot of things in L2 space

We're working with a few partners to try an alternative approach. If it fails then it fails, but at least I can sleep at night knowing we tried.
Mass onboarding into custody seems like a disaster without a really good non-custodial offboarding plan.

I had to ask zero third parties to get zaps working. I just ran a bitcoin core node and core lightning code and established a few channels with a few peers.
Imagine asking visa for permission to do payments. Getting cut off when you transact the wrong way, or get constantly charged back. We would need chargeback zap types 😂

yeah i think we still have code that hides content rendering if over 16000 characters due to a spam attack we received one day. We have post truncation now so we don’t need it anymore, the code just has never been updated.
