This is just a post about how my day is going so far: TLDR having to take amphetamines to function is embarrassing.
Anyways being back on meds is kind of strange because I still have the adhd symptoms. The meds just help me I feel motivated/stop ADHD freeze enough to do what I need.
Yesterday I was going to start doing my hair but decided to condition it first to help protect my hair from damage. I put a a shower cap on my head and let the conditioner do its magic while I started working on some art (I was feeling inspired). Well, the med DID their job (it's my fault I took my Adderall too late in the evening), so I locked in on this art project way past my bedtime (4:50 AM).
I didn't realize it was so late so I decided to go to bed (fuck it overnight conditioning), but I woke up only a few hours later freaking out. I was thinking I left chemical processor that can eat your hair on my head all night. So I ran to the shower to see if I was doomed, just to realize it was conditioner. When looked at one of my clocks it was like 8ish and kinda cloudy so I was frustrated with myself thinking I had slept the whole day away. And it wasn't even noon yet.
So I put a dresser together while I waited for my hair to dry so I can actually do what I intended to do yesterday.
Don't get me wrong, I feel a lot better than I did before but man is ADHD a fucking pain in the ass.

This is everything I'm using right now, I'm conditioning my hair before I put the perm in because my hair was already kinda dry and I just wanted to moisturize it without washing out the oils beforehand. I'm planning to do the deep mask afterwards as well.
If I fuck it up and my hair starts to break, I'll just shave my head again and start over lmao.
It IS complicated and can be very frustrating to deal with especially with the lack of knowledge on how to properly maintain it (I've found plenty of black people still struggle maintenance while trying to fit in societys standards), I hope we can all heal/learn to take better care of our noggins.
I'm glad you learned something new, there 12 different hair types actually. Some people (like myself) can have multiple hair types on their head! Sometimes when I shave it off and it regrows sometimes the texture is different than it was before!
I applaud your recognition of this, truly. Having people ask to touch your hair is probably the most frustrating thing in the world since I know it comes from a place of curiosity most of the time. I've had to learn to set boundaries but still let people have that experience without either party being/feeling disrespected.
Under my wig I actually have a frohawk (Afro Mohawk) because AfroPunk is the way to go~
Posting also for educational reasons since a lot of people haven't seen black hair up close and have questions.
I'm about to chemically straighten my hair so it's easier for me to manage and this is the before with my 4C hair.
