IIRC, around that time I would have been in the tail end of elementary school, so other than Dragon Ball Z, my info on anime was from Filipino kids at my Catholic school who were importing translated anime from back home or playing Japanese spec video games on jury-rigged PlayStations. The kind of stuff you found in ads in the back of now defunct video game magazines.

Given that you're just slightly older than me, anime watching in your teens was far more avant-garde compared to now, especially when OMG anime was still stuff like Dragon Ball Z. Even Sailor Moon was a bit off the wall.

I don't think I have little regard for it, but one could argue that I'm chasing comfort and stability, and if a significant other and children get in the way, then jettison the concept of a wife and kids.
