I check my Bitaxe hash is still registering
What’s with all these partially filled F2Pool blocks, seems like it’s been happening all day.
Fair point, and that point makes me wonder if the incentive for not creating more Bitcoin awareness is that creating more inflation awareness would be a problem.
Obviously a paranoid Bitcoiner take but I feel that the market likes to move behind the scenes to prevent retail getting in first. The question in my head is if the middle man, the institutions, are also part of the silent stackers, I find it hard to believe countries are not stacking. There’s no way any form of media will make that obvious to regular people.
“Bitcoin is too volatile”
Another note to self - I don’t understand why a deflationary system is always talked about as the end of the word then. I guess if you started with an inflationary system then I understand but if you started afresh a deflationary system would be the obvious choice.
Any monetary system that affects money supply in hidden ways (like a credit or debt based system or money) prevents this from happening because it messes with the fundamental ability to measure progress via money, if money can’t measure progress the feedback loop is broken and such a world is harder to bootstrap. That’s where I get lost a bit.
Putting what Jeff Booth says (I think) in my own words.
If I save 1000 units of money when I’m 20, that 1000 units of money should buy more stuff when I’m 60, not less.
This is because over that 40 year period all my effort, and the effort of others should have reduced the cost of valuable things.
The cost of valuable things reduces in a free market because entrepreneurs see an opportunity to make money by finding technology to improve quality of the thing, or reduce its cost of production.
In such a world all our lives get better over time because the 1000 units of currency we save when we are 20 goes way further when we are 60. Retiring (or having more time) is enabled by saving early and letting the well directed efforts and energy of humans do its thing.
XRP is the FTX of the cycle, I don’t know why I’m saying that but disproportionate visibility vs actual value seems similar.
If the American government invented Bitcoin, I doubt most ASICs would be made in China.
Haha I was a big Hannibal fan
Same, I’d been curious about Bitcoin before but 3rd time lucky. I agree both are important and to contradict myself maybe trying to educate people on Bitcoin has an impact when they remember that conversion years later, but often not immediately.
My theory is that people find Bitcoin when they have a problem to solve and are out of options, not because of persuasion. Kinda like the A-Team.
Putting this conference on my radar for future years. Bitcoin x Cape Town (the most beautiful place) sounds like a dream trip.
I’ve seen a few things on my Nostr journey that I never wanted to see 😬
