Wife and I went to a local farmers stand today. As we were being rung up, I asked if he accepted BTC. He said, not yet, but said he gets asked about it a fair amount.
I asked if I could show him how to download a wallet and start accepting in about 5 min. Long story short, he earned his first sats today.
He is the first local vendor to do this. I’m hoping for many more.

Just trying to explain BTC, not offering investment advice. Agreed, those issues would have to be discussed. Id love to explain BTC simply, how it is the opposite of fiat, and I’d love to teach them how to sign up for exchange, make a small purchase, and set up wallet, and if someone wanted to buy $1000 worth, we could talk about self-custody. I would also talk about inheritance planning, perhaps through an open dime. Most are financially sound and capable of making their own investment decisions.
Have been asked about Bitcoin a lot lately from older folks at my church (retirees and some elderly). There is enough curiosity and a few excited about the possibility of me offering an introductory class on it.
So, here’s the question: Any recommendations as to a class that already exists, especially for this demographic. I would love not to have to create it all from scratch, in the interest of time. Though, I’m sure that would still be a worthy exercise.

True. So what are your strategies? The most obvious are to stack sats, p2p transactions when possible, parallel/circular local economy, grow your own food (or buy directly from farmers), and turn off MSM. Love to hear more ideas.

Haven’t been able to get the lightning bolt to show up on posts in Damus, so I have to zap through profiles. They show up in Primal and Iris though. 🤷♂️
Start 9 LND, Ride the Lightning, Zeus Wallet that syncs with node. Had to pay to open an inbound channel at LNBig.

I’m a newbie. Running BTC node on Start9 was a breeze. Takes a while to download, but setting it ups is just a few clicks. Now, a lightning node? That’s nuts. Took me three days. FWIW, I always find BTCSessions very helpful on YT.
Got a lightning node up and going, connected with Zeus, and am now able to zap. Took me three days, but it looks like it is all working. Not bad for a guy my age with little experience in tech. 😊
