I'm already in the process of implementing a self-hosted options.

So for now, I am looking for an emergency backup in the cloud for the most essential data that I can't replace. You know, in case of a fire or other catastrophic disaster. Regardless of the option, the plan is to use Cryptomator or a similar tool to encrypt everything prior to uploading it.

For long-term backups of crucial personal & professional data (photos, lecture recordings, documents, etc.) already on a home server or NAS device, are there any alternatives to BigTech's cloud storage options? I'm thinking something similar to Azure Archive, Amazon Glacier Deep Archive, etc.

Unless you count all of the mandatory reporter lessons. They're crucial too, but we should be supporting our students & teachers in so many other ways.

Sounds like quite the diverse range of topics: cryptography, econ, and theology.

As to econ and theo, anything specific you're learning about now?

Right now, they're scattered between a number of external drives, but my long-term plan is to learn how to self-host a NextCloud instance and to organize all of my photos therein.

You must take ownership of your own learning. Nobody else will prioritize it for you.

Make a plan, however simple, and execute on it. It can be as basic as bookmarking some articles or selecting a book and devoting 20 minutes a day.
