For those unfamiliar, the #SpanishCivilWar was a crucial period in modern history. It was a time when factions across Europe and even North America flooded into #Spain to fight for their particular causes (#democracy, #fascism #socialism, #communism, #anarchism) and to test out the latest weapons of war (just prior to WWII).
If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to compile a list of learning resources.

I still have a dozen or so people I follow from the #birdsite.
I used to use #Fritter, but it stopped functioning quite some time ago.
For a few months, I manually opened each account in Nitter and bookedmarked each, allowing me to open a dozen tabs on desktop.
Today, I learned about two possible alternatives.
Squawker: https://github.com/j-fbriere/squawker
This Android app allows you to import your Fritter follows from a JSON file. It's a good fix for mobile.
Rsslay: https://rsslay.nostr.moe/
This service creates an RSS feed from Nitter, allowing your favorite tweeple to show up in your Nostr feed. As the tweeple themselves wouldn't have ownership of the accounts, you wouldn't be able to interact. Just like with Fritter & Squawker, it'd be read-only.
Has anyone tested either? Are there any additional solutions out there?

I'm thoroughly confused by all of the #garlic posts today.
What did I miss, Nostriches?
#asknostr
I hear you. I've got one or two dozen tweeple bookmarked and always view their profiles via #Nitter.
I wish there were an easier way of following them, rather than opening each person's profile with Nitter. Hopefully, we can get more of these folks over here.
Without the algorithm of your typical platform, #Nostr is able to organically show content from all over the world through the global feed.
I love that we already have Nostriches from so many nations. This is evident from all of the posts I'm seeing in Japanese, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and beyond.
Let's keep this going and onboard every nation.
#grownostr
I saw a note somewhere saying that the Nitter devs found a workaround. I haven't looked at their GitHub yet to figure out what they did though.
I'm just happy it's working.
Not exactly what I had in mind, but learning to overcome #government headaches is a necessary skill of our age.
Everyone seems to be learning about #Nostr, what a #protocol is, and how to use #Bitcoin or #Lightning #LN...
...but what else are you intentionally and actively #learning about?
#education
Here's your reminder to keep learning.
Are you a uni student? Learn beyond your degree program. Pick up another language. Develop a passion for the culture of another nation.
Are you a working parent? Learn new skills and grow professionally. Pick up some books on an ancient society. Discover a new hobby.
Are you retired? Work through all those books you promised you were going to read. Join a Bitcoiner meetup. Learn your own expertise better by teaching others!
Whatever your circumstances, keep learning. It's part of what makes us human!

I watched the video without audio the first time through and almost had a heart attack.
"Is this some kind of prank? Is she going to shout 'JUST KIDDING!' at the end?"
Then, I put on my headphones and discovered the same thing you did. I'm both relieved and disappointed at the same time.
I didn't realize this was still around. Back in the early 2000s, I remember uni kids using this service to blown up images of Chuck Norris and other celebrities to put up in their dorm windows.
This is a fantastic idea, and variations thereof can be done in other spheres of life.
Are you a teacher? Keep a file of some of the big achievements and breakthroughs your students have had, and share it with them when they graduate.
Taking care of elderly parents? Document any amazing stories, conversations, and events you're having with them, to keep the experience positive. Re-read when you're having a tough time or share later on with your own kids about how amazing their grandparents were, even in their old age.

Hey hey 👋
Yes this came up during a panel about the regulatory landscape in SEA. Really interesting discussion as it's not completely dead. I love the solutions that are being created, for instance NeutronPay nostr:npub18d4ff8qrwfukdy2funzua2ayh9xplw4au2pajfcq8mntd6a5v2cq8acpd8.
I think there is still a lot of opportunity in the future for SEA countries. It'll be interesting to watch it unfold 👀
I'm glad to hear that it's being discussed and am crossing my fingers that I can catch the recorded version later.
As to NeutronPay, I took a quick glance, and it looks great! I've known a number of folks from Vietnam, the Philippines, Mexico, Nigeria, and elsewhere who would love to use such a platform to send remittances, a few bucks for birthday gifts, and all sorts of other purposes.
Hopefully, NeutronPay will develop quickly!

Probably why I love Bitcoin so much. I don't like any feeling of control, manipulation, threats and coercion. I love to feel free 🦋
Since you're attending a conference in #Thailand, I'd be curious to know if anyone has addressed the government's ban on using #Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies for payments.
Far as I recall from online news, the authorities permit you to trade on their approved platforms, but using them for peer-to-peer transactions is verboten.

A friend has become a new #privacy enthusiast and has been messing around with #Signal. He loves many of its features but is interested in moving over to Molly, a fully FOSS equivalent to Signal (and seemingly compatible).
Does anyone know if Molly will play nicely with Signal desktop?

Great! Hope to watch the talks soon!

Is that conference being streamed or at least recorded for later?
I haven't been to the US for several years now but do remember having to use automated kiosks that scanned my passport and took my photo prior to me being sent to speak with an immigration officer.
Apparently, this sort of facial recognition scanning isn't even mandatory. I wish they would have made that clear from the start.
