Quite a lot, but keep in mind that Franco was not a communist dictatorship, Franco was a traditionalist right-wing regime, there was much more economic freedom than now and much more prosperity.

Under Franco Spain was the 8th world power, now we are barely in the top 20.

With Franco there were hardly any taxes paid, to finance himself he used a mixed model of state companies, for example car or truck factories, if you bought a car or truck of that brand it was financed to the regime.

Franco built practically all the current highways, including the model of private highways, all the dams, and 8 of the 10 nuclear power plants that Spain has had.

In conclusion, Democracy has been the ruin of Spain, contrary to what happened in the communist regimes.

Forgive me. I wasn't trying to compare Franco to communist regimes but rath3r just pointing out semi-recent governments that people are still nostalgic for!

I wish I could! I haven’t read any! She’s a newly glorified saint in the last year or so!! What I have learned about her myself is mostly pieced together from a variety of sources. If I find a good biography I’ll post about it for sure!!

Yolanda Diaz, Spain's labor minister, is using the same technique as the Allies did after World War II.

Giving a life salary to the survivors of the “holocaust”, in this case money to the gays who were persecuted by Franco.

This caused thousands of holocaust survivors to come out, of course most of them were fakes but they received money, now the same thing will happen if it is approved.

By the way, it has been more than 48 years since the end of Franco's regime, I think there are more important things to solve. Meanwhile Valencia sunk in misery, politicians are totally disconnected from reality.

Out of curiosity, is there any segment of the population that is nostalgic for Francoist times? I know I saw such nostalgia in parts of East Germany or met folks nostalgic for the USSR but have less exposure to those who were in favor of Franco.

It seems like it may be something on their end, because it failed for a second time, and I had to call them again. And while I was on the phone with technical support, it started working again, and has been working ever since. So, maybe it was something they did.

Well, that was no fun. I've been having some internet drops recently, and it wasn't really that big of an issue, but I woke up this morning and had absolutely no internet whatsoever, and ended up having to call my ISP technical support, which is something I extremely rarely have to do, because normally I can figure it out myself, but not this time. Well, on the bright side, at least I got it working again.

During my recent trip to Vietnam, my curiosity got the better of me, and I purchased a pack of instant durian coffee.

Today, I opened the box up and tried a single sachet of this Vietnamese 4-in-1. Mind, I normally only drink black coffee.

For those curious, I mostly taste the cream and the durian (little coffee). It's not bad, but it's definitely an acquired taste. But would I have another cup? Definitely. I just wouldn't have it at the office! 😆

What in the world? Who in the world uses ETH for day-to-day transactions?!

Screens are terrible and should be nowhere near a kid.

Our relationship with our 6yo improved 100x a few years ago when we went from "a little bit of screentime" to "absolutely no screentime ever"

As an educator, I can generally tell which families allow electronics and which don't. The latter are definitely better off.

As for your family's decision, what was the transition like? Did you have any specific strategies or stopgaps to help kids leave their tablets and whatnot behind?
