It has to do with sums of infinite series.

In the first joke, the bartender thinks what’s coming is fractional powers of two. The sum of 1 +1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + … = 1/2^0 + 1/2^1 + 1/2^2 + 1/2^3 + 1/2^4 + … = 2. That is, the sum of the series converges to 2. So he slams two beers to finish the sum rather than infinitely pouring smaller and smaller beers.

In the second joke, before the bartender can cut them off, the third mathematician reveals a different series: 1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5 + 1/6 + … = ∞. That is, the sum of the series diverges. So there’s no skipping to the end. The bartender has to just keep pouring smaller and smaller beers forever.

Awesome. If you can keep them in a fence and away from wild hogs, pigs seem like a great idea. I was told that in my neck of the woods, hogs were a very common food source back in the day because the size was easy to manage, the had quick growth, and were easy to feed. Something to keep in mind.

Wow, I never thought of that. Nostr is really more focused on people to people communication. FB and X focus on people and an algorithm. We don't have that to fight with here, just potential.

Another look at the #meshtastic t-deck upgrade.

This means I can now message without the need for a phone. Perfect!

Since it has an upgraded antenna, I'll do some distance tests by messaging my #1 unit that sits outside with an 868 yagi antenna and running off a big ol' chunky USB battery bank.
