…and at the same time being fully blue pilled on x number of other obvious psyops—pointing to state and media narratives as proof, with no appetite for further critical thinking or inquiry.

Until election season is over, Twitter has reached rock-bottom to me.

I won’t say it’s unusable, since I am using it, but I have to navigate around its main thing to continue with the positive elements of the network effect that exists there.

And so many accounts are super biased on any given topic to a clearly irrational degree. I keep seeing things that seem like satire, but instead they are genuinely written to appeal to lower information people in a way that, from my perspective, is highly patronizing to them.

I find it so distasteful. The prior election year 2020 had a lot of polarizing elements obviously, but 2024 has more clearly conscious polarizing elements going on. Large influencer accounts whose motives are clear toward a broader audience with talking points geared toward child-level rhetoric and civic understanding. You can watch them as an observer speaking to their flock as though they were children.

The answer is easy. BlackRock's brokerage friends.

People been discussing if ETFs are backed 1:1 and if BlackRock is issuing paper Bitcoin. The truth is, they don't have to issue paper bitcoin. They call their friends and tell them to put up more sell pressure than there is retail demand.

I don’t know how some of you actually watch the debate and think there’s anything meaningful to extract from it. It’s deck chairs on the titanic. Elected officials don’t even run the govt.

Case in point, we don’t have a president, and nothing’s changed.

It’s literally reality TV. It’s governance theater. Your vote doesn’t matter. If it did, you wouldn’t be allowed to do it.

She does have a lot of insecurities. The way it came up was back when my father was dying, my aunt and I left hospice care for an hour or so to get some dinner. On the drive back we had a rather heavy conversation about my childhood. Then she dropped that line on me.

The Tao Te Ching has interesting commentary on ritual, and thus in context can refer to organized religion.

It places the Tao at the top (basically the source of everything), and then has a hierarchy of goodness, kindness, justice, and then ritual. Ritual is basically what's left after its drained of its depth, and people go through motions that are now quite distanced from the original purpose or context.

god is a crutch for people who fail to acknowledge that we are no better or worse than any other biological life form.

People need to feel special, to feel like they have purpose and creating a higher power solves this.

I look at it like this, with all of the horrible things that happen to people, it’s difficult to believe that a benevolent and omnipotent being is sitting back watching this happen. And if he is, then that’s not a god I want to know.

Tragedy strikes and people run directly to prayer. well, if there is a god, then he’s the one who brought tragedy to you in the first place, so why would you pray to him for help.

TL;DR religion is nuts.

There’s not a doubt in my mind that god is real.

Still not really a fan of organized religion though.
