I think a Facebook marketplace competitor could be huge as well…
You could have a cache that filters for a tag applied to nostr posts that are intending to sell so you could show a feed/ search through the marketplace specifically.
I also think at some point a truly free market stock market will emerge on nostr but It’ll be much more challenging to implement than a retail marketplace IMO
It’s a necessary evil up to this point though, there is no other easy way to get the masses into bitcoin. You either have tether or some blackrock backed USD exchange chokepoint.
That being said I think nostr will be a great way to onboard people to bitcoin without them having to kyc and trade dollars for bitcoin but we’re still a couple of orders of magnitude too small here for that to have any real impact yet.
In the end all value is subjective, once you truly come to terms with this fact ordinals become trivial. People either will or won’t pay to inscribe. If they value doing it more than they value the fee amount then they will pay to do it until they either don’t value it more than the fee or don’t have the BTC to pay the fee. Long term it sorts itself out 🤷♂️
