Many of you desire self-sovereignty. Being the master of your own destiny, of not being dependent on evil institutions, or on the benevolence of others is not great. It's a journey and it's not easy.

The biggest and most vulnerable point in your general, overall being is your job. It's the attack vector everyone uses to control you. And you probably instinctively protect yourself... by adopting conventional opinions, by not being too out there, by playing lots of office politics, by dutifully doing what's required of you and blaming someone else when things go wrong.

You're vulnerable in this area because when your income is entirely from one place, you're essentially controlled by that one place. This is how fiat money is used to control you. They can chop off your livelihood in one shot. Thus, they can demand almost anything. And even if you have really good skills, when you switch jobs, you're subject to yet another central controller.

The solution is to decentralize your revenue and not have a single point of failure. Get some side hustles. Figure out how you can make money in lots of little one-offs. When people ask you to do stuff, see if you can sell that as a service.

It's through having lots of customers, and not just one, that you become self-sovereign.

Voltage is cool but dealing with your own lightning node is not simple. I’m seriously considering switching over to #nodeless

Honestly, the fees I’m paying to voltage and amboss, plus my time I’ve spent figuring all that out and testing it, is probably more expensive unless I start getting a crazy amount of income which is not happening now lol - anything I’m missing? Nodeless seems like a solid deal.

Only hesitation is that I set up my app to work with btcpayserver and gotta figure out how to re-integrate things. Biggest thing will be to be able to programmatically verify when a transaction has confirmed.

I would if there was a way I could legit invoice people for the payment zap.

It's complicated. Here's why. When I take a Bitcoin payment I have to put the overhead in the dang fiat bank to pay for the printing order.

Fees are one thing, but then I need to collect an address, phone number, and name from the Bitcoiner so I can place the order manually. (My orders from Etsy automatically get sent to the printer.)

Bitcoiners love their anonymity and privacy and I like to respect that.

I could use their online names but that attaches your annon to your address.

We need a shopping platform built here that tackles those problems.

I don’t suggest there isn’t racism all over the place. For better or worse it’s always been present.

Also I’m not trying to make a comparison as if it’s the worst on the planet. My perspective is less a concern from the standpoint of a static comparison, and more about the degree and direction of the trend. The speed we have declined into absurdity, authoritarianism, and glorified delusion is anything but comforting.
