Lol. I think it's just neat to send sats directly to random people a la stacker.news. I guess I'm obsessed with money.

It looks like a bunch of exchanges are leaving the US marketplace. Maybe other countries will soon follow suit. I think we should try to stack more sats in the coming days.

I think my whitelisted relay works on web clients now. It seems that the issue was because I'm running the relay without TLS [1].

I've been using the basic relayer implementation from fiatjaf since it's the only thing that I can reasonably understand and I don't think any of the relay implementations that use docker magic will work on OpenBSD. Also, the lack of documentation on doing this in an OpenBSD server makes it a little more challenging.

It's all good now though, I think.

Another test, again.

Apparently my whitelisted relay is not working on web clients. I wonder if it's anything to do with CORS.

Sending another test message.

I think the basic whitelisted relay should work now.

Apparently filter.nostr.wine is now moving towards a monthly subscription model [1]. Personally, I don't like recurring payments, especially for relay nodes. But if anything else, I think that's just more incentive for me to run my own node.

Speaking of nodes, I think nostr is still quite a way away from having that "just set and forget" setup that you would normally have from Bitcoin Core.

I've been looking around for some relay nodes last night and it looks like most of them are still either a bit faffy to run or they rely on some docker magic to be user friendly.

Early days, still.

It looks like snort.social is not loading properly in Chromium on OpenBSD. I'm not sure what's causing it though.

It looks like there's not much desktop-oriented clients for Nostr. Especially something that would run on OpenBSD.

There seems to be a lot of spam happening on public nodes right now. I might need to turn off the read permissions for filter.nostr.wine at least for now.

I'm still thinking if I should setup my personal relay node just so I have a guarantee that I can broadcast messages over the Nostr network.

I've been mulling over Sacha Chua's old posts about the Quantified Self [1]. I think it's a great resource for anyone that want to practice being mindful with their own time.

Admittedly, I've been a bit lax on tracking my own time lately. I tried setting up Emacs with org-clock-table and org-roam-capture. But I quickly found that it's a bit cumbersome to maintain since I don't really spend that much time in front of my desktop.

Right now, I'm using the "Simple Time Tracker" app from F-Droid just to get the ball rolling again [2].

It seems that I borked my initial NIP-05 config on my webserver. It seems that CORS is pretty much a requirement for setting it up properly.

But it looks like it's all working properly now. Though I would probably need to fix some of the stuff on the backend to make it a little more secure for what it's worth.

Also, if you're an F1 watcher in the Philippines, there's a cheap and legal way to watch F1 on your phone. It seems that beIN Sports recently acquired the rights for F1 on SEA and they've launched an app that can livestream FP1, FP2, Quali and the Race itself.

It's not as great as the F1TV app but they're cheap enough that I don't mind shelling out a bit just so I can avoid doing the weird IP contortions that I would normally do to avoid region blocking.

If that tickles your fancy, just look them up.

Are there any F1 watchers here? What's your predictions for the race later?

I personally think:

P1: VER

P2: ALO

P3: RUS

FL: PER

I'm kind of hoping for an ALO win just for the kicks though.

I just did my first "zap" a while ago. I did not expext it to be that easy considering that I didn't set anything up with lightning on my client.

It looks to me that anything SPARC is unobtanium in the Philippines. Perhaps I'm not looking at the right places. It would be nice to get my hands on a SPARC64 workstation just to play around with it.

I was listening to RetroBytes' retrospective on the SPARC architecture last night [1]. One interesting tidbit that I got from it was that Fujitsu basically had a tight deal with Sun that allowed them to make their own rebrands of SPARCstations.

I wonder if some of those Fujitsus landed in the Philippines. It would be nice to play around with SPARC and run some stuff on it.

Testing nostr again.

Huh. Am I being spam filtered? That's odd.

I didn't expect doing your own NIP 05 verification to be that easy.

It's interesting to see a lot of japanese nostr users in the global feed.

Also, I'm mulling over running a nostr relay. I'm not a big fan of docker so let's see if there's anything simple that I can run that wouldn't depend on anything complex or esoteric.

I want to get a PDP 11/70 just for giggles but I know that:

(a) It's expensive,

(b) I don't have the knowledge to make it work,

(b.1) and since I don't have the knowledge to make it work, I might not be able to maintain it.

I'd argue that it's because it's really easy to get into Nostr than any other social media network now. Heck, you don't even need an email to join. Just a keypair and you're good to go.
