Funnily enough I’ve got an order of tallow moisturiser and soap coming tomorrow from a local farm. I’ve struggled with eczema for years so hoping it makes a difference because the creams I’ve been prescribed most of my life certainly haven’t!

Agreed, SOC is for the more mature players which is why I’m hesitant to even offer that tbh. Consultancy and pen testing aren’t IMHO and can apply to more or less any project generally.

For the past couple years, I’ve been voluntarily testing a ton of projects/businesses (more in the Bitcoin space) and discreetly reaching out to them when I’ve found issues/vulnerabilities/logical failings. They’ve been responsive but whether there’s appetite to actually enlist people to do this professionally/regularly I’m unsure due to many of them being startups. That’s another reason why I want to enter the space because it’s so fucking expensive to get a basic security test.

You raise a good point regarding open POW. As I’ve always worked behind NDAs on projects (mainly to protect them), working open source hasn’t come second nature to me. But I definitely need to broaden my horizons more so will check out the above feature request! Cheers for being a sounding board too 😊

It’s difficult because a lot of the above are sometimes regarded as luxuries or for really mature businesses. However (although I’m biased), I think that if security isn’t factored in from the start then there could be disastrous consequences later down the road.

Penetration testing (Web, Mobile, API, External, Internal although albeit that’s becoming less common, Cloud Sec reviews, and so on). Consultancy (particularly in support of secure SDLCs). Governance support to help attain certifications for things like ISO, SOC 2, etc.

I think I’d leave things like SOC monitoring unless there was proper demand for it and I had the resources to do it properly 😊

Nothing stops this train. Rates coming down, UK M2 money supply going up 🚀

Instead of working in the fiat system, I want to migrate my time and skills into the systems that I want to come out on top. I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a cyber security company that exclusively worked with and supported people or businesses working on Bitcoin and/or Nostr. Ideally, all payments would be made in BTC/sats. Is there any appetite for this? Or if you felt that you needed cyber security services, would you only be interested in the big names like Crowdstrike or Darktrace? #asknostr

This will lead to less tax revenue though because it’ll encourage people either to leave or to HODL.

Yeh I’ve found Money Matters really recently, up till then I had no idea that he had his own podcast!

This is by far one of the best podcast episodes I’ve listened to in a long, long time. nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle knocks it out of the park with this one!

Yep, today has definitely been one of those days.

Yeh it’s crazy! We can smoke, drink alcohol or gamble but we draw the line at freely purchasing Bitcoin 🙈

Such a great message and one that seems lost nowadays. Focus on family, working at something you love and stacking sats.

Finally actually setting up my nostr profile. Been lurking in ro mode for a while but convinced this is the place to be. I’m off all other socials and want to engage here. Found nostr through nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc

Plan on exploring writing for the first time and hope to share some of it.

Attempting to live simply and undistracted.

I have a strong family and I aim to lead them well toward a telos that matters.

“There are books to be read; landscapes to be walked; friends to be with; life to be fully lived. And I realize that this is, in some ways, just another tale in the vast book of human frailty. But this new epidemic of distraction is our civilization’s specific weakness. And its threat is not so much to our minds, even as they shape-shift under the pressure. The threat is to our souls. At this rate, if the noise does not relent, we might even forget we have any.” - I Used to Be a Human Being an essay by Andrew Sullivan.

Welcome to Nostr!

As I go further down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, the stronger my traditional family values become. Instead of just living for dopamine hits and consumerism, my life has become so much more purposeful. All I care about is being a good husband and dad, eating healthily, using natural products, keeping active and spending time with the people I love most. I came for the stronger purchasing power and now I’m staying for the better quality life.

Story of my life. Every time that I’ve felt that I can walk on water, life has humbled me big time!

I think both videos are very strong. They’re light-touch and focus on what’s important to business owners - the potential to increase revenue and access an emerging customer base for no cost. IMO the case studies also lend a lot of credibility to your points.

The only tiny thing I can think of that could be helpful is touching on who these UK Bitcoiners are and what are the demographics that make up this customer base. That may help businesses weigh up if their offering is aligned to parts of this new customer base and stave off the idea that Bitcoiners are ‘crypto degens’. I’m not sure about the exact demographic data out there but from my personal experience a lot of young families, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, and generally people from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds are Bitcoiners in the UK.
