Prices would go up on things people don't need. They would stop buying them and would be better off.
There may be short-term increases on food and fuel, but they wouldn't last, and maybe people will turn to healthier locally source foods than the processed crap coming from overseas.
I looked at a package of peaches recently that were grown in Central America and packaged in Asia. Explain to me how that's better than peaches grown in the US. Sounds more like a subsidy to me.
He sounds more like he's mocking people who aren't willing to think through things than wacked out.
Not on things people need. And I emphasize "need."
Hey 98K club. Howya doing this morning?
What is imported that we must have? It is largely superfluous consumer goods the debt economy requires to stay afloat.
That's a concession. Tyson can easily process it here.
All of this can be produced in the US, and by in large don't represent things Americans need.
- Americans have enough toys to last another century.
- Americans don't need any more electronics.
- most of the foods imported are processed. Americans will be healthier for reduced imports.
- Americans car companies can easily produce parts here.
- dependence on pharmaceuticals are killing Americans. Besides, they can be produced here.
- American closest are full of clothes people don't wear. They will be fine.
- If we open up "national" lands for oil drilling, we will be self-sufficient.
- Americans don't need more furniture. And what we do need, the Amish will gladly build for us.
- we can get our rare earth materials from Greenland. We don't need nearly as much of they stuff as the media pretends.
It comes down to leverage. We have it because we can produce or do without most of the stuff on this list.
This is 2 minutes

Who told you it will cause inflation?

Tariffs are a useful political tool. They are already working with Mexico. Why?

Reminder, it only takes 5 years to grow an avocado orchard.
Good point. We know that money printing and economic tinkering caused the great depression. And the more FDR tinkered, the worse it got. In the end, he knew there would have to be a financial reset and needed a war to cotinkerer, (Bretton Woods). The European bankers went along because they wanted to end the royal houses of Europe, who had gotten too big for their britches. They also wanted a single EU currency.
I silence the Whitney Webb voice a while ago. That woman is bad for your mental health.
Why is she smiling? She just got tossed.
Probably. They will come for you when they're done with the Palestianians.
America has enough wood. It has enough oil. It has enough grain. It has enough coal. It has enough cattle.
America doesn't need to import anything.
Imports are a subsidy.
The US post office could easily half staff and fuel costs by cutting mail delivery to 2-3 days a week and increasing postage costs by $1.00.
Somebody walk me through how tariffs on Candian and Mexican goods will cause inflation.
I thought all the money printing caused inflation.
How exactly will the Canadian and Mexican tariffs make Americans poorer than they already are? Walk us through this.
If you own a home, the price is fixed by a mortgage (won't go up). If you rent, there's no clear line between tariffs and rent increases.
We don't need to import oil (gas won't go up, same for power).
Food has been going up because Biden killed the chickens and because of money printing (but since it doesn't come from Canada or Mexico, it won't continue to go up).
Not clear why Internet would go up.
Not clear why school would go up.
America becomes resource independent again. We won't be harmed economically in a meaningful way.
