I disagree. The whole point of our federal republic was that the federal govt should be weaker than the state governments, with no one in control of the money. What protects the constitution are the states cooperating through the federal govt but decisions being made by people in their own communities and in the state capitals.

The consitution was written to protect the people from the fed govt and to encourage cooperation with mutual protection from outside threats (Europe).
