Where do you think the freest place is to live with the lowest attack risk?
I accept that nowhere is perfect, but my standards are:
1. The bureaucrats leave people alone.
2. The water is free of chemicals.
3. The sky is free of chemicals.
4. Tax burden is low.
5. You aren't going to die if your power goes out.
6. Internal threats from other people is minimal.
7. External threats from other people is minimal.
8. Clean food is readily available.
I think its time to spull sime tea or something again.

That was retarded.
Any of the architecture that relies on symmetry, scale, detail, and an interest in honoring on the outside what is happening on the inside typically checks our brain's boxes.
Panhandles of what?
Unclear to me how anything related to college football could be considered a crisis.
Otherwise I would say that I've thought about much of what you listed as positives and negatives of our state. I fortunately live in a far north Texas county still largely run by the ranchers. It is all cattle and horse country up here. We are right on top of the aquifer, so the water is plentiful and clean for those of us with wells. Our part of the grid is stable if not also infected by wind energy. Clean food is easy to get up here, and we have milder weather than the rest of the state. And there are enough trained gun owners that militias will materialize fast if the need arises.
I am grateful for the resources Texas has, though like you, I don't care for the large inner city populations. They will diminish quickly in a crisis.
I've thought about what state I'd go to if it came to moving, and frankly I am not sure I could find a better situation than I ha e where I am.
Nothing. This is her schtick, and people keep reacting to her so she keeps doing it.
That's what we were saying as we watched it. Dude, Mike just said y'all needed to go in five minutes. Instead, somehow if you don't come out right now, Voldemort is going to roast the planet?
I expect the EU to turn on Israel at some point soon. For a century, France has coveted Iranian oil. The idea of it falling into the hands of Israel, the US and Russia will sound terrible to them. At the same time the Europeans are so afraid of their Islamic populations that they will be prodded into following anti-Israel agendas.
That doesn't seem terrible on its face, but I do think it would put Europe at odds with the US. I think there's a very good chance the US ends up on the side of Russia and Israel in the event Europe enters the war against Russia.
Of course everything I just said could be total gibberish.
The clock is ticking no matter what. Everyone is grasping for whatever crumbs they can get, whether it is Federal funds or only fans cash. I sure hope we're near the end of this system because it is ruining people.
I've been over at Easton Mall in Columbus, Ohio, this fall with my family. It's a pretty outdoor shopping center with Nordstroms, Apple Store, upscale restaurants.
It is also swarming with Somali refuees in expensive clothes. More than once I've wondered aloud to my wife, "where are they getting the money to shop and eat here?"
Meanwhile the west side of the city is having issues with two Somali gangs who appear to be the enforcers for a system of who knows what. Now it is getting clearer what the "what" is. Can't wait to see where the chips fall.
It is time for the fiat system to end.
Looks like I'm getting nothing done this morning.
But that kills them. Psychopaths don't have to kill everyone to be dangerous.
My students at my schools study the rose windows (seen in the back), which if you ask nostr:npub1qqvt0m3nlvjnssmrn33w9yh7cuq2dx5nkz8wxax9hk5hrjdnj4jqz8cn3w are more than just pretty things. Maybe one day I'll have my teachers unpack some of his ideas about architecture, but only if he acknowledges that beauty doesn't have to have a mechanical function (cool if it does), but still has an impact on us even if it is just beautiful.
Some of these guys won't be soup. Others I'm sure will be.
If anything, churches that were designed with the sacred in mind inspire us whether we're religious or not.
We srill need beautiful places to worship. This is my church this morning.

When you have chickens, you wil always eat. Silkies are fun.

Sure looks that way.
Never forget that politicians aren't just liars, they are psychopaths.
But aren't they all guilty?
No chance it will be common currency. Even now, a 10th of an ounce is worth $400. Do you know how small a 10th oz coin is? There's no one who will go into a grocery store and be able to spend that coin, and no store will have small enough gold to give change. Now double the value of gold and figure out how to make the necessary divisibility work.
Thanks man. I have at least three fully formed novels in my head right now. I have to get one of them out of there.
That's an interesting perspective, but the BIble is clear that the state of the world was a direct result of sinful will. What naturalistic mechanism triggered the flood is a separate issue from my concern.
I do think their activities were bhind most of it. But I also think some Nephilim survived the flood (or the fallen angels created more Nephilim, although in more secretive ways), which is where we get giants like Goliath later.
