what if I just block #youtube links from my feed on nostr and follow those that use #invidious or #piped...

In anycase I get a cleaner feed, and find easier those who have the same stance about youtube. And I am supporting #FOSS even more and it is a nice signal to those privacy abusive tactics from google.

I'm investigating (and doing security analysis on) #bitcoin whisper addresses. Every transaction goes to different address but unlike publishing your xpub, these addresses are not linkable to one another.

The drawback is that the sender needs to send the recipient a number. Without that number, the recipient will never be able to find nor access the money.

If other people were able to get ahold of this number, they would NOT be able to see any money movement; it has to be combined with the recipient's private key to be of any use.

The thing I need to go through in detail is the ECC part. I think it's solid, but my knowledge of ECC is very practical and less theoretical, so I want to review what the academic cryptographers have to say about these operations and their theoretical safety. I just want to make sure they are not any weird edge cases before I really start promoting whisper addresses.

ubuntu 20 is the thing... don't change from it until 2025, when it stops being LTS

OK, I have checked now. They are both exactly the same references.

i run ubuntu on my daily driver but i have been running arch or manjaro for some time

the most critical system is the kernel, the rest doesn't matter nearly as much

ubuntu has been bad, for it's whole history, at keeping the kernel stable, i have it disabled as an update to stop it stomping on my setup

it matters even more now with amd support, kernel 6 is shockingly patchy for amd GPU/APU support, i am just running kernel 5 for now, and refuse to move until there is a solid security reason to
