I have recently launched Wikifreedia, which is a different take on how Wikipedia-style systems can work.

Yes, it's built on nostr, but that's not the most interesting part.

The fascinating aspect is that there is no "official" entry on any topic. Anyone can create or edit any entry and build their own take about what they care about.

Think the entry about Mao is missing something? Go ahead and edit it, you don't need to ask for permission from anyone.

Since launching Wikifreedia, less than a week ago, quite a few people asked me if it would be possible to import ALL of wikipedia into it.

Yes. Yes it would.

I initially started looking into it to make it happen as I am often quick to jump into action.

But, after thinking about it, *I am not convinced importing all of Wikipedia is the way to go*.

The magical thing about building an encyclopedia with no canonical entry on any topic is that each individual can bring to light the part they are interested the most about a certain topic, it can be dozens or hundreds, or perhaps more, entries that focus on the edges of a topic.

Whereas, Wikipedia, in their Quijotean approach to truth, have focused on the impossible path of seeking neutrality.

Humans can't be neutral, we have biases.

Show me an unbiased human and I'll show you a lifeless human.

*Biases are good*. Having an opinion is good. Seeking neutrality is seeking to devoid our views and opinions of humanity.

Importing Wikipedia would mean importing a massive amount of colorless trivia, a few interesting tidbits, but, more important than anything, a vast amount of watered-down useless information.

All edges of the truth having been neutered by a democratic process that searches for a single truth via consensus.

# "What's the worst that could happen?"

Sure, importing wikipedia would simply be *one* more entry on each topic.

Yes.

But culture has incredibly strong momentum.

And if the culture that develops in this type of media is that of exclusively watered-down comfortable truths, then some magic could be lost.

If people who are passionate or have a unique perspective about a topic feel like the "right approach" is to use the wikipedia-based article then I would see this as an extremely negative action.

### An alternative

An idea we discussed on the #SovEng hike was, what if the wikipedia entry is processed by different "AI agents" with different perspectives.

Perhaps instead of blankly importing the "Napoleon" article, an LLM trained to behave as a 1850s russian peasant could be asked to write a wiki about Napoleon. And then an agent tried to behave like Margaret Thatcher could write one.

Etc, etc.

Embrace the chaos. Embrace the bias.

Derivative market doesn’t help in stabilising the economy, at all. It only helps few tiny percentage of people to make money.

#bitcoin will destroy the derivative market, in simple terms we won’t need it.

Current global market including derivatives is $2000 Trillion. Bitcoin is targeting that value. And don’t forget this $2000 Trillion is roughly increasing at the rate other 12%-15% annually(Inflation + growth).

So by the time Bitcoin achieves 30%-50% of the global economy in 15 years, #bitcoin will be $7000T - $8000T, that will be $500 Million per coin. And that’s just the most bearish case.

Bitcoin will bring new economy with it, so we are talking about $50,000 Trillion of economy in 15-20 years(Moderate case), so that would be $1B - $ 2B per coin(30-50% adoption) We didn’t calculated the lost coins.

I don’t know what bullish case would look like. Maybe few couple of sats for an iPhone? Who knows?

#bitcoin will surprise literally everybody, including #Satoshi.

#Japan was the first country to reach peak fiat when they blew up their economy 30+ years ago. It, along with the Yen has been on life support ever since, slowly dragging the country backwards as they wait for everyone else to reach the same point of collapse.

The knock-on effect has been an absolutely awful shift in demographics (see pic 2) culminating in 2023 having HALF as many births as deaths.

We are watching a country commit suicide in slow motion to maintain its economic fiction.

That's a turnoff to a lot of people. Was talking to a friend last night about nostr, and as soon as I said it was sensor resistant, he was like "oh, so I would be able to find THOSE types of posts and content?! Not interested at all."

i love what you offer to the ecosystem, but i don't really think on-boarding new users by telling them they can store images and video on a third party website is the best way to sell them on nostr :) i do think we need clients to give hints on where they can go to store content though.

Most of you have experienced 80% drawdowns in #Bitcoin price and can weather the volatility. What happens when traditional finance, #ETF holders, experience their first bear market of that magnitude? My bet is that BTC will be blamed when the economy contracts.

100%, if there is ever a 6102 moment where govt tries to “take it over to fix bitcoin” or aggressively attack individual use of it, that’s when it will happen. It’ll be in the bear market to fill this bull.
