Just some random person on the internet.

I don't blame you. Just interesting to see what everyone is posting every now and again.

I'll agree on the shitcoin front. It's just really annoying when trying to view global and seemingly half of what shows up are those bible verse bots.

Anyone noticing a shitload of random npubs posting nothing but bible verses? #asknostr

I looked at the github for the 1.5.3 beta 3 release and I see no gui version, only cli.

I've noticed something interesting on the web version of nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg. If you are on any feed that has 99+ new notes and you click the button that takes you back to the top of the page and shows new notes, instead of actually doing that it takes you back to your default feed.

If I wanted to cross-post between nostr and š•, how would I do that? #asknostr

Sucks that #Band-Maid is starting to sound a bit samey.

Just saw that you can now mute/report users on #primal. That solidifies it as my primary choice for a nostr client.

Question about #simplex. If I create a profile using the command line version on windows and switch to the gui version on windows, do I have to create a new profile or will it automatically import the existing profile?

First idle game I've played that has an actual ending. I think more idle games need actual endings.

I know it's a really dumb and sad thing to think about, but I don't think I've ever had a post on any platform go viral. Granted I've never really posted anything worth the virality.

The question of how to monetize is difficult. At this point if you rely solely on bitcoin for monetization you could end up in a situation where you onboard a whole bunch of people who are bitcoin-averse and manage to get them to stay. And then you end up using more and more resources with fewer and fewer people who are willing or able to donate money to pay for relay costs. As much as it sucks to say, relay operators need to be able to supplement their bitcoin intake with traditional funding avenues. At least until bitcoin becomes more mainstream and we remedy the poisoned well.

nostr ecosystem has still a long way to go for people to get onbard, tldr ux is bad.

1/ learning about is painful. there’s plenty of doc, but it’s very dev oriented, so boring for the pleb.

2/ ā€œcreate an accountā€ is stressful, first you need to understand the concepts of pub/priv keys because now to signin on your social all you need is a key, no more email+pw. counter-intuitively this sounds more like some sketchy stuff rather than the security & privacy shield it’s supposed to provide.

3/ find a client, and boy it’s hard. there’s plenty of them out there, if you wanna stick to one it’s tough to find the right client that works for you. after some experimentation i came to the conclusion that primal is the least worse.

4/ relays are really bad from a user perspective. it means having to do your homework on what relays do, how they talks to what clients and when do they sync with each other in order to maximize your chances of getting ALL of the nostr network, in real time. this is for me the biggest hurdle in nostr.

4/ I’ve been on nostr for 24h and I still have a hard time understanding how this all works. you can’t refresh your feed like you would on web2, which doesn’t give this sense of ā€œfresh news deliveredā€ that web2 provides. search is clunky, i can’t like posts on web and i can’t follow people on android so it’s pretty much buggy, and so on.

no way my muggle siblings are doing all that. we’re far from mass adoption, but as long as we keep building on top we’ll eventually be able to offer the comfort of use people or used to, and therefore expecting from a social network.

Agreed. While I love the idea of what nostr could become, as it stands it's so dev/techie/cryptography enthusiast oriented you're basically asking the average non-techie to dive head first into the shallow end instead of climbing into the shallow end and swimming out to the deep end.

And while having bitcoin integration is a good thing, most outsiders think bitcoin=crypto=scam, and because of that may avoid nostr completely. I've said it once and I'll say it again, we need nostr clients that don't touch bitcoin and we need relays with a no-bitcoin and no-crypto policies.

When the cable for the CPU fan gets caught in the CPU fan causing it to stop and thus overheating the CPU...

Sounds like the #simplex desktop app is just around the corner. That's very, very exciting.

It's just past noon and it looks like it's just shy of 9 pm outside. #storms

What's the best way of sharing a note outside of nostr from coracle? Like for example I post something on coracle and want to share it on discord.
