#Politics is the deadliest venom and the deadliest poison known to mankind.
I don't have a problem if a hotel wants to do this unprovoked. There is nothing wrong with legitimate charity. What I DO have a problem with would be the government stepping in and forcing the hotels to do it.
You also have to look at other cities that did something similar and see how that turned out. Not to mention the type of people that tend to be homeless in these large cities. Are the hotel staff going to be properly able to deal with those type of people? No they aren't. What kind of compensation are the hotels going to get for doing this? That's assuming they are going to get any in the first place. Look at how bad some of the camps are. The hotels are going to end up just as bad, potentially even worse. How are the hotels supposed to recover if they do get to that state? I doubt they would even be able to. In the end it's extremely high risk vs little to no reward.
And if you want something Final Fantasy inspired, you should check out the other band the drummer is in, Ancient Bards.
It just dawned on me... Am I crazy in thinking that #nostr and #bluesky more similar in how they work than we think? Yes I know that the two underlying protocols are different. But I'm thinking along the lines of doing the same by very different means. And to answer my own question, yes I think I'm crazy in thinking this, hence the sanity check.
On this evening of September 11, I am pleased to announce that I have tagged a Ditto alpha1 release and deployed it to https://gleasonator.dev
Ditto LIVES. Here's what you need to know:
- It's Soapbox on Nostr.
- Ditto pretends to be a Mastodon server while using the Nostr protocol.
- You can use Mastodon apps other than Soapbox (but you need to obtain a Nostr private key first).
- ActivityPub is not supported yet, but it will be. It's part of what makes Ditto, Ditto.
- Ditto is about building communities on Nostr, similar to ActivityPub.
- Nostr uses private keys. There is still a lot of work to do in Soapbox to improve this experience.
- This is not optimized. Please excuse any slowness or glitches. If something isn't working, try refreshing the page. I will improve this.
- It's still a demo. This is just for poking around, so don't get too attached.
This is just the beginning. alpha1 is just BARELY usable. But I want to get the ball rolling. Things are going to change a lot in both Soapbox and Ditto. These things take time, but we will win. Thank you all for your patience, enthusiasm, and support!

Enjoy!
Oh shit! This looks damn interesting.
So government attempting to dictate how you use your private property? FUCK THAT! That is how you chase hotels out of the state.
That took nearly 20 hours, but I finally finished the Real Estate Royal storyline in #yakuza0 and unlocked the Dragon of Dojima style.
One thing I hate about romance #anime, is the constant cock-blocking. For example a show I'm watching this season has the main guy call out the main girl to meet him after work because he wants to confess and ask her out. She shows up and just as he's about to confess, she interrupts him and says something to the extent of "We work well together, let's continue being friends so we can keep up the good work." I mean seriously! What the fuck! Why do they keep doing this! We need more romance anime where the main couple either get together at the beginning or are already together! #rantover
I had the strangest realization when waking up this morning regarding #music. At least in terms of rock and metal, women are either the lead singer in a female-fronted band, or in an all female band... Granted that is just an observation and by no means a hard rule, and there are exceptions to that general observation. I'm sure that's because there some not so savory reasons for that, but still blew my mind when it dawned on me.
God I just ate breakfast just a little bit ago! Don't make me agonize till lunch!
I don't know why, but I've always had an odd aversion to watching anything subtitled, like #anime, when eating a meal.
This is one drum I will beat as long as I'm on nostr: Outsiders hear crypto and think scam and only scam. It does not matter if it is bitcoin, shitcoin, or general cryptography. So how do you easily dismiss them and not actually address their concerns, legitimate or unfounded? Just buzzwords like FUD. It's simple and you get to rally those that agree with you. Sadly, I think that if this "dismiss the non-believer" attitude is so prevalent amongst the most popular users, that nostr will lose any momentum it may currently have and relegate it to a super niche platform. And I do mean platform because that's how I and I would assume a fair few not-bitcoiners/developers see it and not a protocol.
I think Coracle would be a good candidate for a tweetdeck-like experience.
There we go! now I've got something working properly!
I, for some reason, can't seem to figure out how highlighter is supposed to work.
That was weird... Had all the relays I'm connected to just disconnect on me for some reason. Restarting the browser seems to have fixed it for now.
I think I managed to finally migrate my nsec to nsecbunker!
I doubt anyone's going to see this. But whenever I see someone using some kind of buzzword in an argument, I just ignore the argument. Doesn't matter if it's #political buzzwords or #crypto buzzwords. I ignore such arguments because the sole reason for buzzwords is to gather enough support, regardless if your stance is right or wrong, to scare your opponents into backing down. Hell, it isn't just arguments. It's ANY kind of speech. It doesn't matter how harmful those buzzwords are, as long as it gets you enough support.
