Made a small new thing based on an old small thing:

https://hodl.camp/halvings/

Y'all probably have seen the image version, which I created almost two years ago:

I've seen this image pop up on my feed from time to time. It's extremely cool to see a small thing you made find it's way in the world and occasionally comes around and says hi.

Now I made it into a web page, something which I wanted to do for a long time. The dates update automatically, including the halving date estimation, which is based on another script I made, an even longer time ago:

Hope you enjoy.

It's cool! I think you should shift "supply" and "percent" columns down by one and put 0's on the top row. It'd make it more intuitive (for me at least).

But then you'd need another row at the bottom (epoch 34, year 2140) and put 0 for reward.

There is no such capability in amethyst, right? Of course you can copy the npub and create an account with it, but a Malkovich button gives you a very easy way to do it. Just to temporarily transcend into someone else's persona.

I think this is a great question that we don't have answers to, which show in the comments.

I think we'll be using custodial solutions with a high degree of auditability. When I want access to my funds they'll give me a lightning channel that they create from a channel factory (handwaving). Of course they'll offer me on-chain too, but I won't afford to use it

So kill me.

Ok! If I turn off my VPN it works. No worries then.

Clarification, I know Peter's fork will help the fullrbf network grow, but with "practical difference", I refer to my ability to replace transactions.

Just read the disclosure of a severe vulnerability in libbitcoin's `bx` tool that limits seed entropy to 32 bits.

https://milksad.info/disclosure.html

Got me wondering about security of various multi/threshold signature wallets.

Traditional OP_CHECKMULTISIG adds one bit of entropy for each extra signer, given that the individual pubkeys are disclosed. A 2of2 multisig would be 33 bits of entropy and also easily identifiable as vulnerable once a spending tx is published.

But using taproot and musig2, the individual pubkeys are not disclosed, so the number of bits is doubled for each extra sig. A 2of2 multisig would be 64 bits of entropy, and not easily identifiable as vulnerable.

Amirite? nostr:npub1j5mp526z5fkz9wkrk6mt5nzu43xndyrwkr8mnqngdqwytgcpc5vqcnsd5c nostr:npub1vadcfln4ugt2h9ruwsuwu5vu5am4xaka7pw6m7axy79aqyhp6u5q9knuu7

Haven't thought about musig2 this way before. It's a belts and suspenders type of thing in case entropy turns out to suck.

Yeah, ditch all but the one about duress/decoy wallets. I think that's a really important topic that needs more thought.
