Yes it's a Chinese cabbage of sorts. It has a very very mild mustard flavour. Very fresh flavour not too far off from lettuce. It grows a bit like a lettuce but it is very fast. It grows best in early spring. Plant early!

I do a sample every two or so years. Always low on sulphur, potassium, and magnesium. I'm on a sand plain. Like beach sand in some high spots. The onions and garlic and possibly also brassicas are noticeably better with these amendments

Yes it's too cold grow anything outside here. But under the basement lights, I have microgreens growing. Some sunflower shoots and lettuce varieties saved from the previous year. Looks like I might have crossed (hybridized) some of the lettuce varieties which will be neat to grow out and reselect in the coming growing season. This is how you create new lettuce varieties!!
