If Nostr developers all feel this way, then they should just deprecate NIP-25, remove reactions from their clients, and live with all of the “++,” “💯,” “Yes,” “Thanks,” “Ditto,” etc. notes that users will post instead. #OnlyZaps

Some users may prefer not to be replied to or quoted, but they don’t have the power to stop others from doing those things.
Only on Nostr would replying “💯💯💯” be considered increasing the signal in someone’s feed, and not the noise.
Why? That +1 could have been communicated with a like, and not taken up space in others’ feeds.
Is that better than likes, or worse?
Damus is going to implement a feature to filter out notes like
- “Thanks!”
- “Thanks.”
- “Yes!”
- “This.”
- “Agreed.”
- “++”
etc.?
We’re going to see more notes like that in the future. Personally, I prefer my feed and threads not to be cluttered by them.

It’s not a placebo, because others can see the like even if the note’s author cannot. Just because someone writes something shouldn’t mean that he gets to control readers’ reactions to it.
Do we even need a like/zap distinction? Why isn’t a like a zero-sat zap, or a zap a like with sats attached?
I can’t give that a like, but yeah. And no one in the government suffered any consequences.
I don’t know a lot about it, but people are upset because it uses a “coordinator,” operated by zkSNACKs, which will deny coinjoins to unspent transaction outputs that have been used to purchase products or services that zkSNACKs disapproves of.
