Direct realist, individualist, libertarian, dove. Trying to overcome my biases.

Why wear a seatbelt when there are so many other things that can kill you?

At least we can say that rabies vaccines aren’t a scam. In order to be sold in the United States, they have to be at least 88% effective in challenge trials. Going from nearly zero chance of survival to 88% is a big deal. And rabies vaccines do prevent spread.

I believe in your basic moral goodness. I just want to point out that rabies infections are almost 100% fatal to animals with an untrained immune system. And the death is painful.

Probably Coldcard or Foundation Passport, since those get the most attention on Nostr. I don’t have either of them, though, so I can’t write from personal experience.

The movie that comes to mind is Alien 3. The first thing it did was retroactively sadden the ending of Aliens. Ripley then marched to an inescapable death in a prison populated only by unlikable characters. Watching it left me in a dark place, wondering if I was wasting my life with my entertainment choices. My reaction to Leaving Las Vegas was similar.

Not the *whole* purpose, I guess, but some of it. Maybe the Nostr protocol isn’t suitable for DMs, and we should all just put Signal or SimpleX handles in our profiles. Nostr clients could provide a button to launch the appropriate DM client. Vitor didn’t like that idea, though.

The smallpox and polio vaccines as well? What’s the scam? Do vaccines never, in fact, stimulate an immune response? Does that response never actually protect against disease?

No, not yet, except to ask a question and count responses.

That’s terrible, but how unusual is this? What’s the average number of deaths at Churchill Downs from the beginning of a season to mid-May? How far is eight from the mean? One standard deviation? Two?

That tweet is from April 2022. It’s notable that Twitter’s restrictions on speech go beyond what US law mandates.

I need some clarification. If two adults engage in acts of capitalism, are you willing to allow them to go their own way? Or is there some justification for interfering in that relationship?

The Bitcoin network can do it, or someone else can. If it’s the best answer, it will win eventually.

Suggestion for Bitcoin improvement: Move all scripting out of the L1 chain to an L2 chain. Alternatively, reimplement the L1 chain in terms of an L0 chain with no scripting. A transaction would just be a list of inputs and a list of outputs. That way, people who want to save their JPEGs and Pepe tokens to a blockchain like it’s Google Drive can do that, but their files won’t take space from those of us who just want to send money to someone.
