We have a winner! Congratulations nostr:npub1dq54g02mvmuy46ga77qzpwe0tf86sedppecelpstad20myt5s20sss4hcw . The actress is Joan Crawford. According to her she was 19, but according to the biography I’m reading she was probably 22. The film is The Unknown (Tod Browning, 1927), starring Lon Chaney. It’s about a young woman who cannot stand the touch of men’s hands, and the armless knife-thrower who desires her.

You are correct! I’ll give you the zap without the film’s title, but it will be later today because I’m on my iPhone right now. The film is The Unknown (Tod Browning, 1927), costarring Lon Chaney.

There are a lot of ignorant people trading all sorts of things. That may prevent the efficient-market hypothesis from being 100% true, but it’s still approximately true. Knowledgeable traders will arbitrage until the current price reflects what we have good reasons to believe. Even private knowledge often affects prices, if the knower is allowed to trade.

All public information is priced in. He’s wrong.

I just watched this silent film. Okay #filmstr , name the actress and the movie, without cheating, and I will zap you 500 sats.

I haven't listened deeply into her catalog, but I love Here With Me, White Flag, and Life for Rent.

Dido!

(Am I going to be reported for posting an 18th century painting without an NSFW hashtag?)

Speaking of Barbara Stanwyck, I watched Criterion's 4K restoration of Double Indemnity tonight, and it was great.

I guess no one is going to guess the answer, so I'll just tell you. The movie was Night Nurse, and the actress is 24-year-old Barbara Stanwyck. You know it's a pre-code film because Stanwyck strips down to her undergarments in two scenes (along with Joan Blondell in one of them). Notably, 30-year-old Clark Gable plays a villain.

“[Decriminalizing sex workers but not their customers] also represents a paternalistic philosophical premise: that sex workers are all victims and their consent to sexual activity is—like a minor's—irrelevant. And this premise is used to justify all sorts of bad programs and policies, including drastically ramping up penalties for people who pay for sex.”
